I suspect Rudy is right, she might have run into trouble if she tried taking a boy. That thought had already occurred to me after reading Wednesday's strip.
If the goal is to get all of them there, then this seems worth a shot.
It's clever, but there's a lot variables with multiple vectors of failure. However, individually, everything checks out, and sometimes you just have to take a chance.
It's probably a terrible idea, realistically speaking. But how empowering for Rain to take control of everyone else's assumptions and turn them in her favour! Just for that, I'm firmly in her corner, and of course will hope for the best. You go, girl!
Pretty much, everything works out for everyone and we, slightly anticlimactically get what every character wants to have happen. Sounds nice, we'll see what inevitably goes wrong. (I'm thinking it has something to do with Emily's ex friend Madam snoop.)
I don't think this would turn out well. Whoever is in charge of checking people coming in to the prom will probably also be charged with enforcing the school's rules. Pretending to have made a mistake is not going to change that. They may be nice about it but they'll will probably not allow Chanel in perhaps saying something like "we understand that you didn't know all the rules regarding whom you may bring with you but, we are sorry, you cannot bring another girl with you. That is the rule.". I really think this is unlikely to work and they'd have a better chance to get Chanel in by asking Devon or Randy for help.
Much simpler than my plan. My plan needs the cooperation of another senior, say Randy. Ana and Gavin have big public fight. Ana goes to the prom with Randy, Gavin takes Chanel. At the prom Ana and Randy have big public fight. Cue tearful reconciliation of Ana and Gavin. Poor abandoned Chanel wanders over to her friends where she is comforted by Maria. Later on Gavin remembers his responsibility to Chanel and the group is reunited. The plan has the disadvantage the everyone will be gossiping about Ana and Gavin. The advantage is that they will not be gossiping about anyone else.
This can be simplified, since we've established the people handling the paperwork dont care who goes with who, gavin can just take chanel and have another boy take ana. Then just have the friends all unite at prom.
Also if a couple who are both seniors are going to prom we could ask them to help and have that boy be the one to take ana as the girl could get in by herself.
I think it makes total sense, but is still a huge risk. It really shows how much Rain has grown over the course of the series though.
Of course something is going to happen, its not a melodrama if everything goes as planned. That said, I think Prom is going to end up going well, even if it is pretty chaotic for most of it
This plan while is really effective is indeed risky, But however, has a huge chance of success based off of the information Rain(or Ryan as he will be called on prom) gave us. However this is Rain, and in Rain, the thing Rain wants most, will never be easy and will always result in drama and tears.

I originally liked Rain's idea a lot, but suddenly had a terrible thought just now... Emily said that the the finance office people would be processing the registration forms... What if Debbie , or worse Todd, knows somebody who works in that office and somehow gets a chance to snoop thru the stack of papers to see who's taking who, and finds "Ryan Flaherty" taking Chanel.
They'd fall back on the "persistent typo" explanation, and needing to match the form to the incorrect paperwork. Debbie was grasping at straws in the bathroom, and between Madison utterly dismissing the possibility and Rain revealing Chase as the father of Emily's baby she has nothing.
That said, I'm kind of hoping that by the time Prom comes around Debbie and Emily will have sorted things out... If they can somehow rebuild their friendship, then Debbie would have no reason to lash out at Rain.
If we're talking 'mistakes', ummm "It's a me Mario" is easy enough to make, from Maria.
Ryan on the other hand will not only out Rain (and possibly have fallout on Ana, although I think nobody suspects her), but probably fail in such a way that Rain gets banned from taking either gender to the prom.
It is definitely a terrible idea. Proms are extremely boring. The only non-boring thing there is seeing how much food you can steal and take home without getting caught. Turns out, quite a lot if you engineer your suit to have extra pockets just for this purpose.
If the goal is to get all of them there, then this seems worth a shot.
