By the way, it's Rain's sixth anniversary today. I know I say it every year, but as I can't believe how long I've stuck with this. And the longer it goes, the more surprised I get. I mean, this is way longer that I've ever committed to anything. XD
Normally, I'd celebrate by making a little montage of panels, but my focus has been pretty scattered lately and it just never happened. So instead, have this mostly done cover art for Volume 4. I don't know when it's coming out, so please don't ask, but know that I haven't forgotten about it and I'm doing my best to hopefully get it out soon. Either way, I hope you like it. ^_^
And I hope you've been enjoying the comic for all this time, as there's still plenty more to go. Please look forward to it.
I can't wait eeeek! I am so excited for this!
I love thiis scend of the con. It reallt shows the opposition of the twins on this matter while Rain's just over here like "who cares, I got me an Emily!"
Also Drew and friends being all backgroundy and menacing. Also I like the touch of them having their backs to the viewer, which parrallels Emily's position to them at con and also shows their complete obliviousness to Emily's situation.
Look forward to reading more and hope to get volume 4. :)
They are Ursula and Ellette, two characters from another work of mine, Shangri-La. That con chapter is loaded with references to my other stuff, and I briefly touch on the inclusion of these two when Emily is considering buying a girl love fancomic. http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/632/
If you're interested in learning more about those characters though, you can find that right here:

Unlike Rain, it's not a comic, but a game. It was never finished (though I 100% plan to get back to it someday), but there is a somewhat lengthy (if dated) demo available. And whether you wish to play the game or not, there is a ton of supplemental art talking about the story, characters, and whatnot. ^_^
Each book contains a collection of chapters from the story.
Volume 1 - Chapters 1-6
Volume 2 - Chapters 7-14
Volume 3 - Chapters 15-22
Volume 4 - Chapters 23-27
But the biggest draw is that each also has a brand new book-exclusive full-length bonus chapter that isn't available online. They aren't essential to the story, in that you don't have to read the bonus chapters to fully understand the online content, but they do flesh out the characters and offer a little extra depth.
Chapter A, for instance, revolves around Rain's early time with Fara before being Rain. Chapter B focuses on a past relationship Maria had. Chapter C gives all the main kids a little bit of spotlight, talking about their family lives (but with special emphasis on Ky's backstory which hasn't really ever been touched on in the main story). And Volume 4's Chapter D will center around the students of St. Hallvard during the year before Rain enrolled there (focusing a lot on Gavin and Maria's fake relationship, Emily's queen bee days, and a whole bunch more. It's up to the individual whether or not that's worth it, but I do put a lot of work into them. ^_^
Volume 4 has already occurred. It's just a printed version of the last few chapters, so to avoid any spoilers for print-only readers, her hair is kept long on the cover.
As DramaDork said, the content of Volume 4 is primarily chapters 23-27 which already happened online. The cover art in particular, is based on the setting of Chapter 24, where Rain and Emily are at the anime convention. I do have readers that ONLY follow the story through the books though, so I didn't want to spoil the haircut for them (hence why I used a setting before that).
Volume 5 may have a shorter haired Rain on the cover when I get around to that... but I should just focus on finishing this one for now. ^^;
I can't wait, I was so happy when Rain finally confessed her feelings for Emily. (I actually cried, yes i'm as bad as Rain, lol) I'm definitely getting V4 when it comes out, along with the first three volumes, next week. <3
I'm glad that you've stuck with this comic this long, and I'm sure everyone else is happy to a part of the ride. I only joined a few days ago, but I hope to be here for years to come. Thank you so much for this comic!
I'm going to give all my printed copies to my sister for Christmas. I haven't come out to her yet, but I'm pretty sure she knows who and what I am. After all, she gave me my name when I was 8 years old.
