Gavin asks Ana to prom AND officially invites her to their lunch table. It's almost like she's being set up for a more prominent role in the story to come. XD
I considered naming an exact date for prom (like I did with Rain's endo appointment, for example), but it doesn't really matter. The exact day is kind of irrelevant. The important thing is that it's at the end of May, and it's currently the middle of March. So while we can expect lots more prom talk in this chapter (and many to come), the event itself is still a ways away.
Sit at the same table at school for lunch... with the whole gang? And of course Rain will be sitting there too. Uh-oh, I detect awkward moments likely going to happen.
Okay so I've never gone to a school with uniforms before so I wouldn't know, why does the female uniform have different options? (If the male one does too, I haven't noticed.) Like there's the shirt and the skirt but there's also the dress. Is there any reasoning for it or is it just a "wear different uniforms on different days" thing?
Probably for the same reason that male uniforms allow the wearing of shorts.
Weather stuff. You wouldn't want to be forced to wear long pants in the middle of summer if you didn't have to. Most schools with a uniform policy tend to have a Summer uniform (lighter and shorter) and a Winter uniform (heavier, more layers and longer), as well as a Sports uniform (usually there so that you don't have to run in ersatz business attire.) There tend to be rules against mixing the Sports uniform and the Seasonal uniforms. There is no rule against mixing the Seasonal uniforms. I've seen boys wearing shorts in the middle of winter and I've preferred to wear long pants in summer.
There are usually rules in place that stop girls from wearing pants/shorts. Oddly enough, there never seems to be an equivalent rule stopping boys from wearing skirts/dresses, which is usually used as a tactic when someone raises a stink regarding girls being forced to wear dresses/skirts.
I think policies on the uniform may probably vary from school to school, but the one I went to allowed girls to wear either a shirt/skirt combo or a dress if they so chose. There wasn't really an alternative for the boys though... at least, not where I went.
For the uniforms in this comic, I just based a lot of that little tidbit on my own experience. There's not really a deeper meaning to it or anything though. Mostly, it just adds a little extra diversity when drawing so many uniforms. ^_^
