Slowly but surely, we're getting to see Marcus Flaherty's face. But the only times we've seen him in the story is in Rain's head, always covered in shadow, and always very intimidating. It really kinda says a lot about how she feels about him...
Also, this is a weird point to draw attention to, but originally I was going to give Kellen a sword. However, I needed her to take the first strike in a non-lethal way. And I just did not have any ideas I was confident enough to portray in a recognizable way. I was afraid I'd be hearing "Did Rain die?" all weekend until the next page. So I decided to give Kellen a hammer instead. It still looks painful, but I assure you Dream Rain will live. :P
Can't say I'm surprised at who the boss it but I have to say I find it interesting that Rain couldn't guess and am wondering if this is just Dream logic or if there is something more complex at work for instantace Rain had convinced herself that it would be something else
Pommel strikes are a thing, so you could have stuck with the sword. Then again, I think this scene is better with the hammer. More Amy Rose-ish, but in a good way.
I expected either Kellen or Rain's father. it turned out to be both! I like :-)
if this would have been emily, I guess it would have raised to much questions about what that means. because honestly, though fitting, that could have had a lot of hidden meanings
It had crossed my mind, actually. I don't know if I've ever talked about it here, but way back when I was considering writing the story as a fantasy, Emily was the villain of the story. I couldn't tell you when the change of heart happened, but I definitely like good Emily better.
But I did consider it for the dream, if nothing else but for a throwback to that original idea.

I can understand having their father being the villain, it was clearly obvious after that other dream sequence of Rain's. But I also can't help but think of how interesting it would have been to have the villain be Ryan instead, have her face her own inner demons and defeat her former self. (Not going to lie I thought Kellen WAS Ryan the moment I saw her.)
Either way I look forward to the next page and to see what the conclusion will be, keep up the good work Jocelyn :)
rain's father being the leader was pretty obvious. although i kind of wanted kellen to be the princess. if rain were to save her the she would change her mind about rain. but in all fairness it is fitting that emily be the princess. the princess always falls in love with the hero
Sooo...Rain's after con dream just escalated into yet another nightmare with the same dad figure standing cold and rigid against her...supported by Kellen...I wonder what would happen if Rain woke up at this exact point.
ah gash, the monster, will we ever actually see Marcus thou? kinda scared of the possibility, please get Rain a taser before he shows up if he does... evil Marcus!
Anyway the shock of seeing him probably hurt more than the hammer

I must say, I didn't expect Marcus. That man deserves a dream defeat! >.<
also does anybody else get major eggman vibes from that face?
