So, a little warning here: this chapter is going to be kind of experimental. This one takes place about 90% within a dream. Since I started posting Rain, I knew I wanted to do this chapter eventually. It was pretty much inevitable. Heck, I even foreshadowed this. I know recent developments have been building up to a lot of big, important things, but this is undoubtedly the best time to do it (and whether you believe it or not, is itself, a big, important thing). So here we are. ^_^
I admit, I AM a little worried about responses to this, on account of it being so different, but I'm hoping you'll indulge me in this. Also, keep in mind that there's a reason for everything I do. Even though it's a dream, this chapter is NOT a throwaway. It's just unique.
So, please enjoy this one-of-a-kind chapter. I know I'm looking forward to it. ^_^
Also, Monday posts rejoin the party! From now on, we'll be getting new pages three days a week again. So don't forget to check back on Monday, or you'll miss something! :D
The concept sounds interesting and I look forward to seeing how Rain's subconscience influences her dreamworld. also everything has a reason so I look forward to see how this dream connects to the overall story
It's a shame to me that you feel a need to "ask permission" and "request indulgence" for creating your own creations. I love Rain for what she is, not what I want her to be. Keep up the fantastic work!
If there's one thing I've learned from many years on the internet, it's that people don't like change. When a story is a certain way for 600+ pages, it's unsettling for them to suddenly see it do something different.
Apparently, I really do have the best fandom in the world though. I say that a lot, but I really did expect more of a backlash for this. The reality has thankfully been a lot of support though. Only two people I've seen between the six sites I share the comic at expressed a disinterest in this direction, and even they're still like, "well, it's just one chapter."
So in the end, it's just me overthinking and overworrying again. Thank you, and everyone, for being such awesome and understanding people, who keep an open mind, and welcome new ideas. ^_^
From a reader's point of view, I'd say it's not necessary to ask permission from your audience. I mean, we're the ones enjoying it - you're the one who makes it, so you should be able to call the shots without worrying. Besides, even if a certain chapter isn't to someone's liking (which I honestly doubt), they would still love the comic in general.
Well, it's not really asking permission. Even if everybody hated this, it's pretty much happening anyway. I mean, I've already got about a third of this chapter drawn (so I've put work in this). So it's less a request for permission, and more a heads up that this is happening. If you're not into it, it is a fairly short chapter (especially compared to the last few), and you have my word that whether this is a complete success or a complete failure, it's only happening once.
If you ARE into it, well, I hope you all enjoy the unique, funny, symbolic, and probably a little weird chapter. ^_^
I think Ashura is right, if it were a Halberd it would have three weapons in one (A spear tip, an Axe head, and a sharp hook on the other side of the axe)
I'm hoping this chapter will read like a manga. I know it's not likely to shake things up that much, but that would be such a mind-blowing thing, if suddenly it read right-to-left and was mostly greyscale with lots of texture and cross-shading and such. That would blow my mind, honestly.
Now if only I could get someone to artistically render my dreams. Unfortunately, the only person who seems to be able to peer into my noggin enough to do that has only slightly more artistic talent than the average clod of dirt in my lawn. (Not, *my* yard. I'm not talking about anyone else's yards. Some yard probably has clods of dirt so talented they could outshine my brother's artistic renderings, let alone mine.)
Cause that wold be awesome if she did.

Thank you for your hard work, Jocelyn!
