All that karma might be catching up to Chase. And what a coincidence that the conversation should segue into a little bit of talk about the baby. And then Kellen snarks. Dinner with the folks is always fun, huh?
And then... uh, swim?
Sorry for the awkward cut-off. I did consider having this be a two-pager with the next one. There are actually kind of a lot of two-pagers (and a three-pager) coming up soonish though, so in favor of not burning myself out anything that didn't need two pages just didn't get it.
This got me thinking, how could Emily know if the baby is a boy or a girl without being able to ask the baby (and be able to get an answer back)? In other words, the answer HAD TO BE "I don't know yet".
With asking that, Aiken was more so talking about the biological sex to which Emily answered with I don't know. I'm not sure if it's been established how far along she is with the baby but I believe it was said 4 months, so in that time she would likely know the sex of the baby unless she doesn't want to know just yet or wants to be surprised. As for Aiken asking about preference she just wants the baby to be happy regardless of the sex or gender identity, and I think that's great of her :)
The day we get a comic where the baby is being born... just think about that.
Now that I think about it would be even cuter and broaden the scope of the comic if it was EmilyxRain cuz then we go over the topic of lesbian mothers (plus we get the couple :D)

Oh goodness, I so relate to Emily whenever she interacts with Kellen. It's so frustrating and angering having to correct people over and over when they misgender my friends, but I know it must be 10 times worse for the friends being misgendered. Ugh, not misgendering someone isn't difficult, idk why the Kellens of the world act like it is.
I really get the impression that Aiken is trying here. I don't think he's going to suddenly waltz around in a trans pride/supporter scarf (although if he wanted to, I'd totally recommend the one I got from a certain Etsy store a while back ;). It's like he's reaching out to Rain's friends and by understanding and connecting with them, it'll help connect and understand Rain.

I hope so anyway. =)
I was really missing it and your webcomic <3
KELLEN! Swimming is a terrible subject to bring up!
