I've said this a couple times before, but people still ask, so I'm just going to reiterate: Winter Break is not the same thing as Christmas vacation. For me, in both my private and public school experience, there is a week long vacation that occurs sometime in the middle of February. Something, I guess, to break up the school year between Christmas vacation and Spring Break. Based on responses to this in the past, I guess it's not a thing everyone had. But I assure you, it's an actual thing that some schools just do.

Anyway, so the week long break begins... and flies by. I love doing these kinds of pages though. It might just be because I recently played Persona 4 Golden (and am currently playing DanganRonpa 2), but it reminds me of Social Links/Free Time watching Rain hanging out with her friends individually one day after another like this. XD

Sunday sees her with Ky alluding to a future meetup with Drew.

Monday, she and Gavin fail to beat Fighter Frogs again. What else is new, right?

Tuesday involves her and Chanel discussing favorite anime/manga. Maria meanwhile, can't help but be impressed that her two quietest friends are outtalking her. She's into it, but perhaps not quite to the level they are.

Wednesday is my favorite, because it marks the first time I've done something a little different depending on whether you're reading the comic on DeviantArt, SmackJeeves or Comic Fury (please note, if you're following the comic through Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr; you're reading the comic on DeviantArt). It's just a subtle difference. You won't be missing anything if you don't check out the other sites, but I've always wanted to do something like this since the very beginning, even if it's just this once. ^_^

Finally, we get to the inevitable slow day, which is in this case, Thursday. Just one of those days when all your other friends have something else going on (vacation homework, family matters, chores, etc). For Rain, that means a quiet day around the apartment, playing something on her Yuu Us, while the bunny climbs all over her. Oh, hey, I guess Jessica's home too.

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

Also, I've said this before, but I'm trying to raise money for SRS, and I'm still struggling with it. If you can help, it would be most welcome. If not, don’t worry about it. I totally understand (you don't need to feel bad or apologize if you can’t).

Wednesday made me laugh. Though what are the spoofs on deviantArt and SmackJeeves?

misfitArt and SlapJenkins. ^_^

Haha, nice!

...Why do so many art sites have such negative-sounding names? xD
Xiane 12th Sep 2014, 8:53 AM edit delete reply
Likely due to the amount of pr0n they tend to attract ;)

Hard to have a fancy positive name when the average upload is emo-based MLP art that makes 50 shades of gray look like a waiting room magazine :P

MLP, like most fandoms, have some black sheep. As a whole the fandom gets a bad wrap because of the cloppers and grimm dark stuff. As a fan (obviously) I don't approve of any sexual stuff that some fans create , and most of the grimm dark stuff is not my thing, I do have to admit Fallout Equestria is the one exception to both in that it the story is so epic and well written that I forget the source material is magical multi-colored horses.... TL,DR Ponies are awsome, Cloppers are gross, FO:E is best fanfic ever ^_^

I don't get the reference in the Wednesday panel...'s naggingly familiar though. What's the name of the artist that draws "Snow"?

I can't tell if you're kidding or not.

It took me a disturbingly long time to link the different forms of H2O falling from the sky together in my mind.

I believe Snow is drawn by Rosalyn.

My school had both, though our mid-winter break was like, a Monday off =( Always happened around the middle of February.

I keep forgetting that the US holidays are so different to mine (I'm in New Zealand)! I was wondering why their winter holidays were only 1 week long rather than 2-3. I also keep having to remind myself of why people in the Northern Hemisphere might get winter holidays & Xmas holidays mixed up… *feels slow*

You know, they could just use an emulator and use save states. And it would be fair, because 1) many people who actually beat Batt... I mean Fighter Frogs did it with save states and 2) Rar... I mean Uncommon pretty much confirmed in Nuts and... I mean Nails and Screws that the game is unfair.
Jocelyn 12th Sep 2014, 5:28 AM edit delete reply

I beat it before save states or emulators were even a thing (one of my prouder accomplishments as a gamer). Of course, I was also a lot younger and had a lot more free time and patience. I wouldn't call the game unfair, but it DOES demand you memorize patterns and layouts really quickly.

I've only ever beaten it with a Game Geni- I mean, Code Leprechaun. ;-; I might just have to revisit it on my Funtendo.

Wait, whoa, Danganronpa 2 came out in English finally? I've been waiting for that (or a fan-made patch before it got licensed here) and managed to totally miss it somehow.
Jocelyn 12th Sep 2014, 8:24 AM edit delete reply
@Jude P.

Yup, came out just last week, as a matter of fact. ^_^

@Jocelyn hi (i feel my soul melting when i have a absense of rain commics to read)

That panel with Rain and Gavin playing vidya reminds me of back when I thought the two of them would hook up early on. 'Course now I'm glad they didn't 'cause that'd make me think of the comic as Venus Envy 2.0.

Can't wait to see if the descriptions on Tuesday (3rd Panel) hold true when Jocelyn actually writes those stories for real. I hope we get a canon Pandora/Kaminari crossover even though it would be unlikely to happen inside Rain canon (since Pandora is a fairly mainstream anime whereas Kaminari is a niche manga that is only just being animated, and there's no indication that they are under the same licencing (in story))

So yeah, I hope it holds true that Kaminari is more story focused with interspersed action, and Pandora is more action focused. Urgh! I'm such a big Kaminari and Pandora fan!!!! Luv u Jocelyn

to my shame, i was super saddened by colin's faux-pas because of the tinyest chance rain could somehow be in kaminari, or have the people that inspired her idols as friends. rain showed tremendous bravery pushing for aceptance and i just hope it was not for the same reasons. it's all too easy to become beholden beyond boundaries.
oh, and yay, i'm reading through the snow comic now and it's turning out to be perfect for me, kaminari and pandora are too scary.

Ah yes, when you've just played a Persona and suddenly want to put a bit of slice of life into everything, I know the feeling (even when Rain is kind of slice of life to begin with (in a good sense)). Oh, and I promise I won't just be commenting pages mentioning Persona, but those are the ones I'll most certainly comment.

Huh. Yeah, when I was growing up "winter break" was just what they called the late-December-early-January break when they wanted to pretend it wasn't about Christian stuff. I think there'd sometimes be a day off for President's Day or something, but no significant gap in February.
