My younger brother fell victim to word of mouth gossip. He was home sick with mono (this was like five years ago) for like a month, when he finaly got back to school he heard through the "grape vine" that he had either been kidnapped or had died in some horrible accident... he thought it was hilarious

Ah, rumors. I remember someone on Tumblr said a rumor spread they died while they were sick. When they came into their English classroom after a week everyone screamed. xD

Gossip is usually like a game of telephone. It gets passed around so much it eventually gets twisted around and no one knows what happened anymore.
