Introducing Rain Delay: goofy little gag comics to keep you entertained while I work on the legit stuff. Originally, I planned to jump right in and start Chapter 20 today, but I haven't been feeling well the past few days. Rather than let myself fall behind as per usual when I get sick, I decided this'd be a great opportunity to make fun of my comic like I haven't done in a while. I'll be "Delaying" this week and we'll get back to the story this time next week. ^_^
Maria vs. Emily
I've been alluding to past complications between these two without outright saying what actually happened for so long, it only seemed right to have fun with it. Ice cream is serious business after all (especially when you're five). XD
Good Ol' What's-His-Face
This one's for all the Kylie fans. Kylie hasn't been seen since a single- panel appearance in the beginning of Chapter 17. And before that, her last significant role was back in Chapter 14. Believe me, it's not like I don't want to use her more often. It's just tricky working with the one kid that doesn't go to the same school as everyone else. Back when I started writing the story, I thought that was soooo clever (after all, growing up most of my friends went to other schools). In hindsight though, maybe it wasn't structurally my best idea. XD I'll work with it though. I'm sure we'll all be happy to finally see her again in Chapter 20. ;)
It also reminds me of my freshman year of high school, when we had split lunches, so you weren't guaranteed to have lunch with your friends. Luckily, sophomore year on we had a single lunch each day.
Yeah, a lot of my classmates had a "solution" for split lunches that we called "executive lunch" - skipping class and going to all three lunch periods.
Something I've learned over my 50+ years... Emotions, empathetic feelings travel across space instantaneously between people who are close to each other, it's like a form of telepathy. Has something to do with the chemical reactions in our brains that cause similar reactions to instantly form in other persons' brains elsewhere across distances if those brains are somehow "in tune" with each other. The female brain (regardless of physical sex) exhibits this phenomenon much more than the male brain. Albert Einstein called this phenomenon as it applies to pure physics (not necessarily chemistry which is a derivative of pure physics) "Spooky action at a distance" because it doesn't travel at the speed of light, it occurs instantaneously thru the fabric of space-time itself.
I kinda want an ice cream sandwich now. Which is hilarious because I'm snowed in by one of the worst winter storms I've seen in decades.
(I particularly like the reminder about Kylie.)

Love these Rain Delays.
