He’s a smoothie. Definitely a smoothie. XD

Actually, if I’m being honest, I’m not totally happy with this page. Gavin and Ana’s interaction here is significant, but I’ve spent weeks wondering if I could have handled it better. Here’s hoping you guys like this better than I do. ^_^

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

The RainComicStore on Etsy is holding a charity promotion this week courtesy of my lovely wife, Kelly! There's never been a better time to get yourself a pride scarf!

Scarves featured include your choice of pride colors signifying Trans, Gay, Bi, Pan, Ace or Genderqueer! And new in this week: Genderfluid and Hetero colors! Others coming soon, and as always, we're open to suggestion!

First of all, I just wanna say that I absolutely LOVE this webcomic! I've been following it for most of the year now, but I'm always too shy to actually comment. It's equal parts interesting, fun, & informative, & I think I've learnt a lot from it :-)

On this post, though--Gavin makes me uncomfortable here. Sure, he says "no ulterior motives", but if he's actually trying to get close to Ana in the hopes of it leading to a romantic relationship, then he does, and to be honest, I think that's just a*hole-ish. It stings of people who self-identify as "nice guys" who are just using girls or viewing them as prizes. I've had people apparently become my friend just to find out that what they were really going for was something else, & it honestly hurt a lot to find out.

Sorry if that sounds harsh :-(

(Also: I've been idly wondering about RainY since Emily first appeared XD)

I agree. I've had more than my fair share of "nice guys" who befriended me in hopes of getting into my pants.

I don't think Gavin's the type that has an entitlement complex or will throw a hissy if Ana rejects him, though. Guess we'll see.

If the guybis a nice guy they arent going to do it with alterior motive.

Personally if I like some one I'd prefer to be friends if they were willing to. I tend to be more comfortable around women, and I only want to date people I would also want as friends.

you can only gain if Gavin was with rain

Hmmm, Ana's blushing is throwing a wrench into my hypothesis that Gavin clocked her for being non-hetero, and he's trying to be a beard for her like he was for Maria.

*grumble grumble*

I guess I'll go grab my tinfoil hat and chalkboard and return Wednesday.

Then again, he could suspect/know that Rain is attracted to her, and I'm sure he knows Rain well enough that she'd never try interacting with Ana, so by inviting Ana into the circle, Rain will be forced to interact with her. Although seeing that Gavin may still has a crush on Rain, it'd be strange for him to try to hook her up with somebody other than himself. Curiouser and curiouser... yeah me and my tinfoil hat will see you on Wednesday.

Also, question about your storepage, which I visited because I noticed your wife's charity promotion - didn't you used to have things other than scarves listed, or am I just too stupid to navigate the store page? Because I remember there being a shirt that I had wanted, but now I can't find it, and now I'm worried I'm suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's at the ripe old age of twenty because I can't find it. I'd much prefer being woefully inept at navigating websites and having a Rain t-shirt and scarf to hitting senility.

Don't worry. You're not going senile. We took the shirts down for the time being due to technical difficulties (long story; I'd rather not get into it). So unfortunately, they're simply unavailable right now. They'll probably be back again in the future though. ^_^

Good to know that senility and all the advantages it entails, such as being able to yell profanity at teenagers about their loud music without recourse, are out of my grasp. I look forward to surprising my girlfriend with a trans pride scarf :)

I was wondering, could you possibly make a character that is a bisexual? I mean, you have heterosexuals, homosexuals, and transgenders. Besides, recently I've been thinking, and I think I am bisexual. I don't know how to react about it, but I would like to see how someone would act, being like that. I have always liked guys, but I have a recent attraction for girls and my feelings towards males aren't going anywhere. Even if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!

By the way, I'm only 14. I haven't told anyone yet. I think my parents would accept me, but I don't think they would entirely believe me. I don't think I would tell my family until I was positive though. Thanks!

Aunt Fara is bisexual.. Its mentioned that she never got to see her nieces and nephew for years when they were little because she was dating a woman, and her brother-in-law is (apparently) a homophobe. She's also, obviously, dated men. There are also some other minor implications, like when Aunt Fara made out with Heather in Chapter 3. Plus, there's this:

Which is the banner of the comic. Aunt Fara's umbrella is the colour of the Bisexual flag.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't pick up on that. That's right, because she's dated both men and women. Thank you for pointing this out. Lol I'm glad I get to compare myself to her.
IllCaesar 17th Dec 2013, 8:53 PM edit delete reply
No problem. I don't see why you need to "compare" yourself to her, but then again I've never had difficulty wrestling with my sexual orientation, so best of luck!

@Me... er, you

Kylie is bi too. It's perhaps easy to miss though, as it was stated (intentionally) very haphazardly.

Also, for as little importance as he brings to the overall story, Randy is actually bi too. Although in this case, it was only mentioned outside of canon (and I later decided to make it canon).

I haven't read the comments here, yet, but I can't help but think that Gavin isn't describing Anastasia, here. It sounds more like he's describing someone else he happens to like......
