Lots to take in here. Between Maria’s brief interrogation, to Emily’s evasion and derailing of it, to Gavin’s intentions, to Rudy’s… well, to like everything Rudy says on this page. And what are you taking from all of this?
Also, I'm saving for SRS, and to be perfectly honest, I could use your help! If you can, great. If not, don’t worry about it. I totally understand (you don't need to feel bad or apologize if you can’t).
After starting my transition, me and my girlfriend went to considerable lengths to "gay up the place" whenever we went out. Particularly when a tour group was passing through XP
Said by no teenage girl ever who wasn't trying to avoid going to prom. That there should be a red flag that something is up. The strange thing is that Maria knows that Emily is pregnant, so is she just trying to pretend like she doesn't know, or is she assuming that Emily might be having an abortion?
Maria knows, yes. But Chanel doesn't and she's sitting right there. Additionally, Emily doesn't know that Maria knows. Maria wants her to talk about it for sure, but if the topic is going to get brought up, she wants Emily to start it. This way, Emily never knows Maria spied on her to find out.
Random thing I was considering. Obviously, there are teachers inside the school sympathetic to the situations of characters, but part of me wonders about the principle.
He's strict to the point where he's called "evil incarnate", but I can't help but wonder--if he were truly evil incarnate thanks to strictness, why not just kick the troublesome students out of school?
Admittedly, I don't know the rules of catholic schools very well (or for that matter, schools' policies in general), nor do I have perfect memory of what the principle has done or been referenced doing, but still, I'm wondering.
I survived Catholic high school, deeply closeted from even myself.
I can't say the setting is the most credible part of the story, but it is true that even a religious school would have a hard time expelling a student just for being gay. Gaying it up with one's gay SO? Yeah, maybe. Doing something moderately bad and being shown no mercy because it's an excuse to get rid of the gay kid in such a way that er parent's can't sue? Most certainly.
But out of the blue, just for not self-loathing whilst being gay? Say all you want about "Catholic guilt," but I can't see that coming from any sect less strict than Bible-belt Protestantism. And even that would be a stretch.
I was just wondering, though, considering that the principle's sexuality is listed as unknown. I was thinking that if it were straight, that'd be the end of it, but if it weren't straight, that it could be an explanation for them.
My first having had to wait for page, cant beleve how much I have become attached to these characters, cant wait to find out how things work out for these people.
Edit: sitting here clicking next, I mean eventually the page will be here XD. "Maybe I should fine away of getting paper volumes" Wish I subscribe to those?
I wish there would be more of this "Whoa. Where'd you come from?" situations in reallife - I really like them (ok, normally I'm the one suddenly in the picture and this really makes more fun than the other way around)
And yesh, Rudy being Rudy :3

Kind of like how in the previous chapter Maria asked about how she was doing. And then brought up Emily's sullen mood on the night her pregnancy was revealed to Rain privately. It's all Maria trying to get Emily to just say it.
Hence, Maria playing dumb and asking "innocently" why she wouldn't go to prom. She's a clever girl like that. ^_^
