Anyway, I’m wondering if Gavin’s snark is a bit too subtle? Supportive as he may be of Rain, he has been kind of against this whole charade against her brother since the beginning. I think even Rain is starting to see the mistake she’s made. Not that this fact makes it any easier for her to just turn around and fix.
Artistically, this page is suck. Have I ever mentioned I hate car scenes?
Some older cars only have lap belts in the back. Also, chance of death from an accident when you're in the back seat is lower, which is why people aren't legally required to wear seat belts in the back seat, and why many cars don't have airbags for the back seat.
I first saw cars with airbags for the back around 2000. At that time, I think it was all side impact devices, since the back of the front seat works better as a cushion in the case of a front impact than the windshield does.
According to Wikipedia, the Volvo S80 had side curtain airbags for the back seat in 1998. There were at least a couple of cars that featured side airbags for the front seat before that, but not apparently the back.
In 2008, the Toyota iQ featured the first rear-curtain shield for protecting rear occupants' heads in the event of a rear-end impact. In 2009, they developed a rear seat center airbag to protect rear seat passengers from collisions from the opposite side.
In 2010, the Ford Explorer got a rear seat belt airbag option. Apparently, they can put them just about anywhere these days.
