I admittedly never really watched Buffy, so I didn't realize I was referencing something. I just thought it might be the quirky kind of thing Rudy would do.
I actually imagined Rudy meeting his mom for the first time and just calling her "Gavin's Mom" whether she liked it or not. Not Mrs. Kurz. Not even Simone. Just Gavin's mom, every time. Eventually she just gives up and he keeps calling her that.
Addresing a friends mother as "Whoever's Mom" instead of the more formal Mrs Lastname is a practice that goes back to like the 1950s. In the late 70s when I was in high school we always addressed one of my friend's mother as "Billy's Mom" instead of Mrs Gilbert when she drove us around to various events.
Long story short... Great one Rudy! I have a feeling things are about to get interesting now. I love Gavin's reaction at the end (hand on face "Oh man...").
This humorous page to give us a break from Rain's uncomfortable predicament while still being completely relevant was perfectly executed and made me laugh.
i may be a little late but seeing Rudy refer to Rain as "a girl pretending to be a boy" instead of when he first found out and thought of her as a boy pretending to be a girl made me smile. he understands that Rain really is a girl now and that makes me happy.

Long story short: Rudy's just being Rudy. ^_^
And I so loved his smile! ^-^
