Not really a joke, as much as an excuse to use some of the fake game titles I've come up with over the past year and a half or so for this comic. About half of them were, however, made up exclusively for this strip (ironically, making Rudy's comment very accurate).
I should add that I will be extremely impressed if anyone can figure out every last one (and the origin of the title, for that matter). Many of the parodies are based (largely, albeit not entirely) on my own old Super Nintendo collection which consisted of both very mainstream and very obscure titles. Hint: A thesaurus might help in some cases.

This may actually be my least favorite Rain Delay to date. The joke - intended to play on Chanel's discomfort around boys - comes off a lot more mean on paper than it sounded in my head. To go a little further, that meanness just seems out of a character for her. She's not really mean.
But I've doomed myself to two 4koma shorts per Rain Delay, and I had no other (good) ideas, so I stuck with it. I guess I probably shouldn't be so hung up on whether or not these non-canon strips are in character though. Especially considering other Rain Delays have featured everything from Maria giving Rain a death threat, to Puddle being a (particularly skilled) gamer, to Emily controlling the passage of time.
