Once again, I think this is fairly straightforward on its own, so I don't have too much to add about this page specifically.
But I do want to announce that I finally finished the last [online] page yesterday. It'll still be a few weeks before y'all see it, but art for the main story of the comic is now done. I still have to put together Volumes 6 and 7 (with bonus chapters of their own, so I'm still not really done done), and maybe this'll be a good time to at long last update the long overdue Characters page since everything is actually finalized now, and then I can get started the new comics, My Impossible Soulmate and Moonlight Wanderers.
But before all that... I'm gonna just chill for a bit. Rest guilt-free for a week or two (while still posting, of course). It'll be a hiatus for me, but for once, it won't affect you. XD
Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you'll look forward to and enjoy the next few weeks of pages, and everything that follows after that.
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
I think it would be interesting to have a secondary character page linked off the main character page with "This is a spoiler if you haven't finished the story" link on the current listing, partially for historical purposes, and also for those who do not wish to have things spoiled, but want to remember who someone was.
I was thinking this exact thing. Because it's nice to see where they began, but it really doesn't correspond with so much of the run of the series, it's also nice to see them later on (maybe not all the way to this end chapter, but still, it's weird seeing Emily described essentially as the straight, high school mean girl when that version of her was so long ago I barely remember it).
I agree once Rain is done, the Characters page would primarily be for the readers who read the comic later, right? So describing all the characters as they are at the end of their arcs would be confusing for them. It would be cool if the character bios had, like, "Level Up"s so that, say, Emily Level 1 is the straight Alpha Girl Perfect Year antagonist, Emily Level 2 is Rain's pregnant pansexual good friend, Emily Max Level is the gender therapist mother married to Rain who we see in this page, etc.
That said, since many of the character arcs in Rain focus on gender identity & sexual orientation, it seems impossible to have a "no spoilers" character page that doesn't (from the perspective of the characters in world at the end of the story) misgender some characters or otherwise deny/ignore the identities they discover for themselves along the way (by referring to them the way they saw themselves, or the way Rain saw them, at the beginning of the story.) Based on the way Jocelyn interacted with reader comments during Ryan's arc, I doubt it's something she'd be comfortable with (despite being useful for new readers.)
Earlier I was wondering how this series would wrap up. Everyone has been recapped so this chapter is entering the final lap. So now I’m wondering, how will this series end? What’s the way that wraps everything up satisfactory?
OMG I’M CAUGHT UP! I literally started reading this series at the beginning of March, I read so much each day, this series is AMAZING! probably my favorite book ever- and I’ve read A LOT! also… reading this has allowed me to realize… I think I’m Pan! I’m a lot like the characters in this book, actually. My parents are Christian, if I ever told them they would me soooo mad. They’d probably disown me. I’m kinda like Maria haha! Thanks for writing this Jocelyn, you’re touching the lives of so many!
Hi Jocelyn, I was wondering if you were thinking of doing any book prints in colour in the future? I've been wanting to buy the whole set but I wanted to see first if you were planning on doing any colour runs - the black and white looks lovely of course but there are a few things in the comic where the colour seems kinda important, and I'm also interested in how you show flashbacks since you usually use b&w to show that?
I know it's expensive to do though so I understand if that just isn't on the table 😁
A lot of people ask for this, but between the cost and the significant extra work from losing a lot of the original files (particularly in the first two books), which might require me to redo some of it, it's unfortunately just very low priority for me at this time. If anything changes on that front, I'll be sure to make some kind of announcement, but for the time being I'm afraid it's just not something I'm thinking about right now.
(And regarding flashbacks, since I can't differentiate them in the books by just changing it black and white, instead of surrounding panels with a simple black border as usual, I use a noise effect to give them a kinda hazy border.)
Wow. It's so weird to consider that the story is now, in a way, finished. One and a half thousand pages, over eleven years. I'm so glad the epilogue has let us see everyone in the gang, and learn how they've been doing; and I can't wait to meet Lydia in the coming weeks.
aaaaaaa ive been following this comic for years and im so excited to see how it ends!! that being said i plan on re-reading it all the time when its done because its just so darn good!
sry i posted this on the wrong page so I am reposting it here
hey Lyn i just feel like commenting about a couple things about the planed update of the charterer bio page thing i think you should ad a spoiler button for some charters like for Lorcan (hope i spelled that right) it would not be right to display his true self for spoiler reasons so spoiler button that shows the spoiler bio an also Allison is showing as straight but getting together with KY I understand if KY is in boy mode but what about girl mode does Alison lose interest??? but for the sake of the story Alison needs to appear straight right saying something like bi or pan would not make sense for reasons like why did not rain get together with her reason cause rain is girl and Allison is straight also the charters tend to display the second type or orientation romantic which could be interesting to add like KY is asexual right I think but what are their romantic preferences I am guessing bi or pan and Rudy may be biromantic due to the little romance with him and rain since nothing was actually done and Rudy is homosexual only reason he would like to start a relationship with rain other the the biological reasons which I like to think Rudy is better than that would be a romantic interest in rain
just something to think about no pressure to do any thing
And I wanna say that I adore Emily's outfit!

I can't wait to see the whole family!!!😁
ADORABLE
It's been a long, but good, ride.
It really has

I'll be getting them anyway for sure, I adore your work! :D
It's a neo-Nazi code.
Yeah, obviously it's just a progression of numbers in this case. ^^;
Thankyou so much for Rain. Looking forward to the final pages slowly being revealed.
That makes it feel official
The story is going to end
I'm not ready but this has been one hell of a ride

I’m so attached to all these characters. Can’t wait to see the end in real time
Thank you, Jocelyn
