At last, Chanel and Maria make their glowup debut. Maria hasn't changed too much except that her hair is much longer. But Chanel has changed a lot because her hair is much longer! XD
Before this chapter started, a lot of people wondered if Rain would be a webcomic artist after a timeskip because the author she's loosely based on is. But I didn't want to do that; it felt too on the nose, somehow. However I'm plenty shameless enough to still include a canonical webcomic artist (and Chanel is the other most relatable character for me). In the end, it's probably still too on the nose, but whatevs (at least it's not the main character). XD
Naturally, she's working on the ongoing Minimon fancomic, Sunlight Drifters as we speak. ;P
As for Maria, I always wanted her to act for a living, since she is a drama club kid (it's covered more in the Volume 2 bonus chapter), but I felt like voice acting was a more thematically relevant role for the comic. Maybe she just got talking about anime with Chanel, Rain, and Emily one too many times, and decided to give it a go.
As for the seamstress thing. We know she sews, and I did have her describe in passing once that she had the equivalent of an Etsy store. At least this way, she's still got stuff to work on between gigs. ^_^
If I'm being honest, I don't remember. It was always something I had in mind, and I can recall there was originally going to be a scene that showcased her drawing, but it ended up being cut for one reason or another. But I actually can't recall if there was an alternative point where she might've still mentioned it in passing.
So Chanel's artistry may or may not come as a surprise. Sorry I can't help this time. ^^;
It’s really nice to see all these nice dynamics having shifted or strengthened throughout these years. It’s nice that they all seem to still know each other for the most part.
(By the way, does Chanel have 4 eyebrows in panel 4, or is that some other detail I’m not getting?)
Chanel is so cute, grabbing Maria's hand in the last panel. I always thought the main character from moonlight wanderers looked a lot like Chanel. Well, not always, but ever since Jocelyn put up the poster for it.
I spent the last three days reading this comic, and I love it with all my heart and soul, this was such a fantastic read so far! I'm glad I had so much to read, too ^^ It was such a nice journey to read!
Well, there go everyone's theories that Chanel and Maria were the couple who didn't make it when Ky talked about "almost" all their friends staying with their high school sweethearts.
Honestly, I'm surprised! It's definitely the shoe-in pick if someone were gonna break up. They're well past it by now, but one of them being a high schooler for three years after the other graduated would definitely be the kind of situation that could create distance in a relationship.
Not that I'm not happy to see them, of course! Marnel may never have been my favorite ship, but I'm just glad to see Maria happy.
Maria has my dream jobs!
I currently sew, and will probably make an etsy shop in the near future. I've also started to dip my toes into the world of voice acting, but am still very new and have a long way to go.
The page linked in the blurb mentions that Maria did drama in middle school. Were you imagining that St. Hallvard wouldn't have a drama class/department, or just that Maria wasn't involved in it? I'm curious (mostly because her having the opportunity to continue it but choosing not to could say something interesting about Maria).
This last chapter is making be feel so warm and comforted with every page. It really makes me cherish how far I myself have come since I started reading. Things really do get better and having this journey conclude in such an uplifting way makes me happy every time <3
this is so cute! i'm glad they're still happy together!
guess you got three self inserts in this universe so far (though i stand by the idea that any character made by a person is some sort of reflection of them, either of who they are, who they want to be, or in the cases of antagonists, who they avoid being.)
Maria looks pleased to hear whoever's on the other end of that call! New gig? Something else?

Whoops! Thanks for catching that. It's fixed now. ^_^

BTW, the desk shifts color in panel 4.
And that's fixed too, now! I guess I was kinda sloppy with this page. Sorry for that, but thanks for catching it! ^_^
Glad to see more people discover this Wonderful webcomic
Enjoy the ride
We're in the home stretch

Glad to see they are living together as well

Ah! But that one's an ace ring (which goes on the right middle finger), not a wedding/engagement ring (which goes on the left ring finger).
She's actually had it for a while too. ^_^

St. Hallvard may have a drama club, but the implication in this case is more that she wouldn't be involved with it.
Chanel's still quite small in stature at five feet and a quarter of an inch now (though she has gotten taller since we last saw her, technically).
That said, she is sitting through this whole page.
