I played and beat a lot of games for the first time in 2021. Money's been a little tighter this year (while I save up for my teeth), so I haven't bought many new games compared to other years (and most of it was either on sale or very graciously gifted to me). So while I did get a few, most of my year has been spent with me starting on a new personal journey to play as many retro games as I can - mostly JRPGs - that I either simply missed in my childhood, or I was straight up never able to play (due to no localization). I received a controller for my phone this past year where emulation is surprisingly good, and so I ended up playing a lot while watching things. It's been a ton of fun, and extremely fulfilling for me. ^_^

And in terms of anime, I admit I watched a lot of duds this year. But the ones that were good... were really good. (And what was bad really sucked!) XD

Most of the time, when I do these things, I'll do mini-reviews on my top three, but I... am not actually good at reviewing things. And rather than stress myself out over what to say just about stuff that's just meant for fun, I should probably focus that energy on my actual work. I still ranked them (though, I confess it was hard to pick this year), but I'll spare you my redundant buzzwordy reviews. That said, if you want to hear specific thoughts on anything, or have questions, opinions, agreements, disagreements or whatnot, feel free to drop a comment.

Also, share what you watched/played/read this year if you like and/or remember (I only remember because I keep a list throughout the year). ^_^

Woah, that's a heck of a list!

My list:

...

Yeah I'm bad at playing games... All year I managed to play The Witcher 3 for 2 whole hours, and Kerbal Space Program for 30... Minutes.

Well, if it helps, your list is basically the same as mine. I puttered with a few different games than you, but beat nothing. Celeste beat me on the first level.

Anime? I haven't really watched any of that since I left Dallas in 2005. Ok, there were a few things I re-watched with a friend who hadn't seen them, but I've seen nothing new.

Nice to see Highway Blossoms. For you need that hit of gay in your games as well.

That’s a big list! I’ve been curious - have you ever played Celeste? It has trans representation without being an (explicit) main focus of the plot, and it’s on sale right now on Steam (if you use that)! I’ll admit, I’m somewhat biased since it’s pretty much the only game I’ve played for the past slightly-under-a-year since I’ve got it XD

Moriarty the Patriot was amazing! Wish it ran longer.

Fair warning for those who try "to my eternity" it's a rollercoaster of emotions and can end up being to much at times.
I had to stop for a little while because I just couldn't handle any more hesrt breaking moments.

Next game you need to beat: MELE (Paragon Run), Halo 3: ODST (all audio logs), Fallout New Vegas (with mods(NCR, all side quests, Good Karma/reputation run (except the legion))) and Space Station 13

Love the yearly reminder that everyone should watch villainess. It’s so fun and wholesome.
