Rain spent the first half of the story with her face obscured by her hair. To many - both readers and characters alike - that was just Rain's look. That was who she was, and what she'll "probably aspire to" when it grows back again.
But people grow and people change. And if Rain is showing more confidence and wants to be more open, then is there any need for her to hide her face anymore? Is it really the look she wants? Or is it the look we want because we think that's what'll make her happy?
I say this a lot, but if you can, I think you should do what you need to do for you. Be as open or not as you are comfortable with. Wear the clothes you to. Wear your hair the way you want to. You should be the most important person in your life, so please take care of yourself. :)
Friendly reminder that Rain is now available in French! We're up to five chapters now live as of this weekend, and more will go up every Saturday. ^_^
While I know most of you can and probably do already read in English, the option is there if you're bilingual, or if you know anyone who is more comfortable reading in French that you think might enjoy the story. I invite you to share this with anyone you think this might benefit. ^_^
While I am not trans, I can say that your comment about wearing the clothing I want to and my hair the way I want to, etc. is something I just recently came to terms with myself. I thought I was too old (at 27) to continue dyeing my hair vibrant colors and dressing with a goth aesthetic and then I realized there's no such thing as too old and I should just wear what I want, so I dyed my hair blue and bought some new clothes.
Presenting yourself the way you want to makes a world of difference and should make you feel good about yourself. ^_^
I know people in their 50s and 60s who dye their hair dayglo fluorescent colors. No such thing as too old to dress, color hair, etc however you feel. I'm 59 and have been known to dress like a 20-something yr old vixen.... and sometimes I can even pull that off, lol (as long as my weight is under 140-ish, which it ain't right now thanks to the past year of pandemic quarantine boredom-eating).
I haven't noticed how symbolic the hair was. But that also leaves the question if she will keep growing it out, cause personally I like this incarnation of Rain the best, also I hear long hair can be a pain.
As someone who’s had long hair, short hair, and DEFINITELY have had in-between hair...
It’s moreso about knowing what your hair likes and how to care for it. My hair currently reaches about halfway in between the end of my shoulder blades and my bellybutton (weird since they’re on opposite sides, but it’s the best reference I could think of...). And honestly this hair is super easy to maintain.
My curly hair hates being washed more than twice a week and will absolutely tangle up and/or frizz if I brush it with anything but my fingers lol.
Rain is so cute! she has come so far and also nice of Maria and Gavin to! this gives me flashbacks to the start of the story. but when she grows her hair out wont she look like kellen? thats gonna be awkword. but she is so pretty i love her with 2 eyes and the way her hair looks! But one question is why are her eyes so much smaller then they used to be at the start. I miss her really really big eyes but she is still so nice maybe its because she is older?
I've spent a lot of time fussing with my appearance, and only recently have I actually considered that the most important thing is what makes me most happy. I'm beyond happy that Rain is allowing herself to exist naturally. I think it's one of the most important things to experience to be truly happy with you body and appearance.
I'm really glad Rain has grown confidence over the course of the story. She's grown so much, and been through a lot. She deserves to feel this way <3 She's so cute in her eye-covered hair though, omg! ^^
Rain’s comment about not feeling like she has to hide herself anymore, though? That hit different... Still like a truck, but a wholesome, heartwarming truck.
twoone eyes?says "growing you hair"
should probably be "growing your hair"
And fixed. Thank you for catching that. :)
