And we round out the week (and begin the year) with what might be one of the most pointless pages of the chapter... and I kinda love it. So much has been going on for them in past scenes, that seeing them have nothing of importance to discuss the whole scene is nice and refreshing. XD
But the absence of urgency, I think, also says a lot. Like, just a couple pages ago, we saw how Fara is worried about Rain being deadnamed in front of everyone (again) at graduation. And Rain has certainly been made aware of this. Fara knows it's a possibility. The students already have the yearbook with her deadname clearly in it. And there is precedent. Yet here we see her top priority right now is... an anime trailer. She never talks about graduation at all through the whole scene!
Should she be more worried about getting deadnamed? Or is she very deliberately putting in exactly the amount of concern she believes this situation requires?
My goals for 2021:
1. Finish Rain, maybe. (There's still a few chapters left; don't worry too much about this for now.)
2. Start next comic, Moonlight Wanderers, maybe.
3. Continue game, Save the Princess, much as I can.
4. Try my best.
5. Forgive myself if I fail.
2020's been a crappy year (to put it very mildly), and the year ending isn't automatically going to make everything better. So, I recommend points 4 and 5 for everyone. ^_^
Happy new year. On the Near Year's Day page one year ago today I was comparing stuff Kellen said (yuck!) to the national tour of My Fair Lady, which I had seen the night before. This year, of course, I wasn't going to a live theater last night. I'm glad to see Rain and Emily here and not Kellen.
if you don't mind, jocelyn, i put together a montage of your rain at prom strips to show the 'way of being' i recognise alot in myself: https://postimg.cc/bDhvTfkb
still, keep working at it girls!
It's not just having fun that makes time go fast. Time flies when you're paying attention to more important things. That is, Rain, if you study properly, you won't even notice the time.
This scene was so gentle; it was so detached from the story that's been going on and feels like a completely different sequence from what I expected. I liked this little set, it feels tranquil and nice ^^
This comic has been my life over the past few days and while I realize that it's a bit unhealthy to read 10 years of comics in that short a time, I have to say thank you! You've helped me get the confidence to question my gender properly and I'm even trying out new names and pronouns. Thank you so much!
still, keep working at it girls!
also Rain in this comic is a mood
look at puddle
look at him
puddle: yawns
~ puddle looking intensifies ~
Silly Rain, you have all summer to watch anime -- and worry about college and whatever.
Probably reading too deep into this
