And speaking of trailers for new animations (I swear this is pure coincidence), some wonderful talented friends are putting together a Rain: The Animated Series. It'll be some time yet before the pilot is ready, but the teaser launched last week. And you can check that out right here:

For a moment I thought that was Dream Vincent, but he doesn't have wings.
Anyhow, the current match in the Rain Favorite Character Tournament will last one more week, since it hasn't gotten a full week and I want to get it back on a Wednesday schedule. The race for second place between Emily and Rudy is close.
That's what I was thinking as well. Same symbol, eye color, wings, and is supposed to be connected to the original series? ANNDDDD in a comic with a ton of LGBTQ+ rep? Nah, I don't think that's a coincidence.
Also I imagine it would mean A LOT to Rain if she found out the main character from her favorite series was trans as well.
In universe you could rationalize it as the author wrote one series, came out (at least to themselves if not publicly), and then started the other series saying they would connect it to the original work
Reincarnated from someone of the opposite gender does not necessarily mean trans. Just saying. I mean, if reincarnation is a thing, it stands to reason that a lot of trans people would be individuals who were their correct gender before. But it wouldn't necessarily be the only reason to be trans, and changing genders between lifetimes would not necessarily be the disorienting experience that most trans people feel.
That said, I would tend to think that a person who presented as a different gender in a prior life time would probably at least be understanding of the trans experience. Not every such person would necessarily, as different people are different.
I'd think it would mean a lot to Rain if she found out the main character from her favorite series had some kind of a transition experience and understood something of the kind of situation that Rain is in, regardless of whether that was because said main character was trans or not.

To the characters at least!
