Unfortunately, even though Ryan's finally picked a name for himself, only he and Rudy currently know it, so it takes all of three panels for that deadname to come up. At least he's not here for it. ^^;
Then Aidyn comes by and relays the news. He seems a little resigned, but not terribly heartbroken or anything. I think he'll recover from this. Anyway, it all leads to the siblings discussing info Ana would only be hearing for the first time now. Lots to take in here.

And finally, just so you know, we're coming up on the end of this chapter pretty soon (not this week, but soon after). There will be a hiatus when it wraps up. I didn't want there to be one yet, but real world events kinda killed my motivation for a while, and now I'm super unprepared. I'm trying to work through things and catch back up as best as I can, but I'm taking things very slow right now while I deal with... everything.
In the meantime, there's still a few pages left in the chapter, and we'll absolutely see those first. I just wanted you to know what's coming up.
I wonder if Ana has put all the pieces together yet. Because earlier she talked to Rain about having a friend who may be trans, and it seems like this would be the final clue that she would need to figuring it out. I'm curious what her reaction will be.
Ana suspects, but she doesn't *know*, and either way Ryan isn't out to her. This comment would definitely reinforce that suspicion but it doesn't really give her a way to let Ryan know that she'll be supportive if he does come out to her. Thankfully, what she also doesn't know is that Rudy is already doing exactly what she wishes she could do.
Some teachers I've heard speak on this (near the edge of the bible belt) mentioned the struggle of remembering when they need to deadname vs using the true name because the student can't safely be out. Seemed relevant
I think Ana has suspected for a while now. From my memory, she spoke to Rain at one point about helping out a person she knew who might have been showing indications of being trans.
It's interesting to me, difference the way people see things. Here we have the author saying "he's not that upset and will be fine". Where to me he seems very hurt and trying to cope
Teen love is a pain and your brain doesn't know how to process rejection that first time, as it's the first time it happens. So yeah, it all falls down and stings.
Yeah, he'll eventually be fine. But look back to how Rudy took his breakup... Put on a facade in public, but when he got the chance to be alone in his room....
....A brief hiatus, you say? Golden opportunity for a quickly written brand new Rain Delay episode introducing "The Adventures of RYAN, the Totally Trans Guy"
OK, I'm just re-reading, and thinking that if she weren't trying to stay so deep stealth, she could try talking to Ryan like Ky tried talking to Rain way back.. http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/210
Ok?

But yes, he's going to be fine and bounce back.
