Debbie and Holly need their closure on things as much as anyone, and it seems they've approached Emily to ask some questions. Holly, as per usual, doesn't seem to wholly get what's going on, and seems to wind up with new questions. Especially after learning some new terminology she may need some time to process. XD
Debbie meanwhile, perhaps to some surprise, knows what's up. But she has a question of her own, regarding something Rain said to her. Thoughts?
Debbie's reactions over the last few months (of real time) make me think she's had a crush on Emily for a while and her jealousy of Rain is due to that and not because she's been "replaced" in Emily's circle of friends.
The last time we saw Debbie reassuring Emily hinted that she's not as one dimensional as she first appeared, so it's nice to see that expanded on. My guess is she's about to ask whether Emily thinks she and Holly did abandon her; that was the mic drop moment Rain gave her back in the bathroom, and the only time we saw Rain and Debbie speak (to my memory at least)
Oh poor poor Holly. She's confused about things not being binary. Someone is gonna have to walk her through it I bet. Wouldn't be surprised if she has a ton of questions.
Don't forget, Holly's uncle has a gay roommate who she thinks is funny, but can't figure out why her uncle and his roommate share a bedroom... I think it was Maria telling Randy to never clue her in...
Clearly the reason is because Holly out-of-comic knowledge! She read the extra comics and saw that joke had been made, so she didn't make it again.
Her seeming lack of knowledge about what the main characters are going through is because she only has inside information about what jokes have and haven't been made, not everything else that happened in the comic. So she saw the joke about pansexuality, but wasn't privy to Emily's relationship status. She also never connected the dots enough to realize that Emily being in the center of a joke about pansexuality might have been a hint that Emily is pan, because, ya know, she's Holly.
Flashing back to 939-941, I'm wondering if maybe there's someone else in Debbie's life who she knows is trans. I'm certain it's not her, though, or her brothers wouldn't have come back to her with the story they had at the mall... And, I am curious if Debbie is in the LGBT community....
I have to wonder if (after Debbie semi-clocked Rain and if she started to suspect Emily might not be straight) Debbie has actually done some homework on LGBT subjects off-screen since the start of the school year...
