Madison not being at prom and the whole ice cream thing was touched on before. Mostly, this page is just a follow-up on that joke. XD http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/1136/
Seems pretty obvious to me? The poor boy invited his dream-gal to prom and not only did some other guy make a move by offering his jacket, but she spent the entire night wearing it?!
He probably thinks Gavin and Colette are a couple now. :/
There are probably multiple cities named Madison. Do we know exactly which one she's named after? Is she even named after one?
Though, it doesn't really matter too much if it's her birth name that we're talking about, because she lives in a culture where parents name their kids without consulting them, before their kids are developed to a point where consulting them could possibly be considered useful.
I really don’t know HOW coming out could go for Collette right now... I mean, the more educated characters would likely think “phew, it’s nothing to do with me then!” But then, when Allison was faced with a similar situation, even though we know she is a good sort, she simply didn’t understand at the time and reacted violently as she thought “Ryan” was making fun of her....
I still think Aidyn was only upset because he thought his date liked a different guy. (Imo, that thought process is pretty understandable because men giving women jackets is a pretty common romantic trope! and we all know Colette isn't a woman, but Aidyn doesn't know that.) I would love to see this all be explained and Aidyn be supportive and non-transphobic!
Oh dear. Well, that news came about 35 years too late to be of optimal use, but hey, better late than never.
I've lost count of the number of times I've lent a jacket to somebody who was cold. That explains why some of them got weird about it after, especially the girls or women. I never had any thought that I was doing something romantic. I had only been interested in doing something romantic with one of the women. I just saw somebody cold and felt I had an easy solution for them at hand. (It was always a situation where I could be certain to get the jacket back. Most of the time, I was already going to be walking them home because it was a campus which really wasn't as safe for women as it should've been. Other times, it was something like their brother was going to be coming over to my place later, so would be able to bring my jacket, or I'd just see them at school the next day.)
Its also worth remembering that Aidyn is a teenage boy and as such is pretty naive when it comes to romance and gestures. Christ knows I was.
While we could factor in the complex identities involved here, I think this an Occam's razor situation - he's a teenage boy who went to a prom with his date. He saw his date enjoying the attentions of someone else and became jealous/self doubting.
I know some say Colette should come out to the main group first, cause it's safer. But Colette isn't really part of that group, plus they don't seem that afraid of doing it.

Although, Rain isn't particularly fond of liquid precipitation, so I guess ironic names are a thing in the Rainverse.
