A little bit of a fluffy payoff after sticking with the heavy subject matter all week. Not that this can't potentially be its own can of worms. Emily seems to have made up her mind to confront her mother, which as all your comments on the last page imply, could either go extremely well or turn into a terrible disaster. But at least she won't be alone.
It all culminates in not one, but two, tender hugs shared between the girls in the middle of the school hallway. Sure, hugs don't have to mean anything romantic, but these are the girls that now have a reputation for having kissed at prom. The peanut gallery here - mostly consisting of nobody we know or will know - may have been there and saw that. Or some might have missed prom, but heard the gossip about it. But either way, many mouths are agape to see them "at it again".
Maybe this will all lead to something bad, and maybe not. But it's been a rough week. So let's just have this cute moment for now. ^_^
Don't be shocked, O kids of hyperconservative people who art in the background, just pretend they're close friends and don't tell the diocese, like all the catholic popes and archbishops did about that sweet greek loving going on in the background of most of the NT. (Much of which is set in Athens, when there is a setting and not just a letter, and Athens was known for being welcoming to gay couples.)
Because really, it's sad that an organization supposedly dedicated to ending suffering found a worse thing to do to LGBT folks than erasing them from history. Better to roll things back and try again.
Indeed; Seems more like faces of confused disappointment to me.
Whereas everyone else (with one exception) has a face that implies confused shock to me (pikachu face); the last one looks more like angered and shocked (The girl next to the two you mentioned)
Not really sure I understand why this would draw notice from anyone, except perhaps Holly and Debbie in this context.
Girls who are friends tend to hug each other, even straight girls, so why should anyone seeing this think it even noteworthy, let alone surprising?
Sure, girls can hug. But it's less that it's girls hugging, and more that it's those girls hugging. Those girls that everybody saw smooching with each other just days ago. That's why this is getting more of a reaction.
After Maria's "I'M A DYKE" moment and the Emily and Rain kiss, I'm surprised a hug still startles some kids. I guess not everybody is caught up with the times ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know they're inevitably going to get some negative feedback from their peers, between this and prom... but I hope they get some unexpected support from people too
I like how from the school's pov Rain/Emily is playing out almost exactly like Rain/Rudy (Kissing at a party -> hugging at school).
Also, I think Debbie is getting an idea of why Emily might have pulled away from her and towards Rain. A wrong idea but an idea.
Take a picture peanut gallery, it'll last longer.

Actually, since this time it IS on school grounds, I hope Brother Arthur doesn't have to take official notice ...

Just not in the middle of the hallway.
I was pretty shocked by this too! But I'll take it! XD
well... one down it :P

Jocelyn, I'm going to have to bill you for a replacement heart because my current one has melted thanks to this XD
