Last week, I shared with you a Rain-specific banner, that I would like to use for certain Rain-specific circles of the internet. I also said it was one of two banners I was working on. This is the second one.

Instead of focusing on just one story like that one, though, this one shows five (most are comics, one is a game, and one is prose). While Rain still does have plenty more content to look forward to, we are definitely at the latter end of the story (last quarter or so?). I plan on writing for the rest of my life, though, so even after Rain, I've got to think about where things go next. And I'd like to start getting a bit more involved and open with those future projects going forward. You know, keep people's attention. If you like Rain, I think you might also like what comes next (especially if you're here for my brand of humor and drama, and casts full of queer and trans characters). ^_^

I've kinda been calling this banner my "five year plan", in that I'd like to see a lot - if not all - of these stories at least be started and live (with a couple even wrapped up) within the next five years. And perhaps in future posts, I'll go over why I think that's totally feasible.

If you've been following me for a while (maybe even from before Rain), you may have heard me mention a lot of other stories over the years, and you may be thinking, "But Jocelyn, what about [this story] or [that comic]? Are you still going to write that one?" Ideally, yes. And I did briefly consider this banner being huge enough to represent everything I plan on writing eventually. But besides being cluttered, it also feels too soon. I just physically can't write everything at once (as much as I loathe to admit it). And some of my stories could be as far as a decade or more out (or maybe my plans will change along the way). Basically, I don't think it's fair to hype too far ahead like that anymore, because so much can happen. Five stories at least starting in the next five years is, I think, much more reasonable (for me to work with, and for you to hopefully be on board with). Maybe more will happen. Maybe fewer. I'm not gonna stress out over it, but I'm gonna do my best to make things happen. ^_^

Ideally, I'd like to use this banner on less specific parts of the internet (like perhaps Facebook, Twitter, and Patreon). To show what I've got currently going and what I'd like to add to that in the foreseeable future. I'd like to go much more in-depth on each individual title, but I've definitely yammered enough for today. So like the other banner, please let me know what you think. Either about the banner itself, or even my plans going forward. Your feedback is always most welcome. :)

OOOH! Which one is a game? And which one are you working on first?
Jocelyn 1st Oct 2019, 7:53 AM edit delete reply

Save the Princess is the game. ^_^

As for the order, the comics will all happen one at a time. So when Rain is done, I can move on to Moonlight Wanderers, and from there move on to Magical. Save the Princess has been going through a whole bunch of planning in the background for a while now, and will probably drop at some point during the run of any of the comics. And The Scars of Redemption could happen pretty much any time. As soon as I'm ready, basically.

Hey! So I’ve actually been following rain for quite a long time now. I’ve made like half a dozen accounts over the years, commented like once and then lost the account login info when I stopped reading cus of a hiatus and stuff like that.

But I’m 21, and I started reading rain when I was 15 and a barely-out-the-closet-to-myself trans girl in a shitty highschool in Idaho. Like i said I’ve read off and on for years, and I’ve been really down lately due to ptsd from my father kicking me out of the house for being trans, and so I decided I’d pick back up and reread through rain, cus this comic is honestly kind of a comfort blanket for me. I reread the entire comic in a little under 4 days, and honestly I don’t know why I am writing this all out except to say that this comic is honestly such a wonderful thing and I’m so glad you’ve stuck with it and seen it through for so long while so many other comics I’ve loved fell through or went into hellatus. This comic helped me a lot to come to terms both with being trans and being a lesbian, and like I honestly really do just wanna say thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

And thank you for sharing. I'm so happy to hear that Rain was able to affect you in such a positive way. ^_^

so with save the princess are u making a game or doing a comic based on a game or something else cause it has gotten me confused???
Jocelyn 1st Oct 2019, 4:10 PM edit delete reply
@sakura windjumper

Sorry. Perhaps I should've been clearer about this. My bad. ^^;

Rain, Moonlight Wanderers, and Magical are comics.
Save the Princess is a game.
The Scars of Redemption is written prose.

That looks like Jessica in the Moonlight Wanderers portion of the banner. I know we've already seen Magical characters (Carmen) appear in Rain. As MW and Magical unfold, will we see more crossover characters from the Rainiverse?
Jocelyn 4th Oct 2019, 3:35 PM edit delete reply

The main character in Moonlight Wanderers is named Maya. There's no relation at all to Jessica. Any similarity is entirely coincidental and intentional. ^_^

There may be crossover between some stories that are part of the same universe (like Rain and Magical are both Rainverse stories), but not everything will quite fit that. Moonlight Wanderers, being a Pokemon story, is a notable exception. I don't own Pokemon, so I don't want to claim it on anything I might be selling. That said, Maya herself is an original character, and she's shown up a couple times in Rain. Usually on book covers.

Here on a book Fara is reading -

And a different shot harder to make out on the book Emily is reading -

While we're on the subject, Save the Princess, while being a totally original concept entirely conceived by me, is a work of fantasy. Therefore, I wouldn't call that part of the Rainverse either. However, it already has a canon cameo in Rain too.

There's a page where Ruby purchases a boy love manga called "Save the Prince" and loses it in the ladies room. The book features two actual character from Save the Princess. You can see that here -

As for more stuff more along the lines of Rain and Carmen meeting? I can't say for sure just yet. That we'll have to wait and see. The Rainverse does include a few other stories besides Rain and Magical, but how they connect may have to wait for another day. ^_^

Sorry, for the really long answer. I liked the question. XD

So what would the Rainverse equivalents of these stories be? Magical is actually in the Rainverse, so that might be its actual name. Can we look forwards to Minimon: Lunarbright Explorers?
Jocelyn 6th Oct 2019, 9:50 AM edit delete reply

Hmm... I've never nailed down one name for it in Rainverse terms?

Twilight Roamers? Starlight Explorers? Sunlight Loiterers? XD
Guest 6th Oct 2019, 2:38 PM edit delete reply
omg Loiterers xP

Very nice story so far. I discovered it last month and read through it since then. It helped starting research on sexual and gender identities and which fit to myself.

I'm going to give you some advice I wish I had been given when I was figuring myself out:
Not everything on the internet is true. During this time you should not take anything you see on social media to heart. Tumblr is an especially toxic place. Before you settle on a label, step back and think, "is this truly me?"
I wish you the best in your endeavors. The Rain community is one of the most accepting out there.
