I just want to remind everyone how this is going to work real quick. About a year ago now, I posted a ballot for readers to vote for Prom King and Queen. I did this ballot well ahead of time so I could have enough time to plan any scenario that could plausibly come up, and hopefully make it interesting. By the end of July, the King and Queen will be announced and we'll know the winners. And following the reveal, I will share final tally of how everyone voted.
So, here's the deal: for the next couple weeks, I'm probably going to try and have very small blurbs. I want to be careful about how much I say about anything here, and just keeping my mouth shut is going to be the best way for me to do this. So for a little while, I'll be letting the comic and your comments do most of the talking. ^_^
Oh, the staff member who just walked out on the second page here is another attendant at the reception hall (like the one at check-in). Let's call this guy Derek for ease of conversation. ^_^
Hey Rain Beaus (ooh, haven't said that in a while)! Big moments coming up in the comic, and I just wanted to say this one last time for anyone who hasn't gotten the memo yet...
About a year or so ago, I posted a ballot for readers to vote for Prom King and Queen. I did this ballot well ahead of time so I could have enough time to plan any scenario that could plausibly come up based on your votes, and write an interesting turn of events for it (whether you went for obvious fan favorites, or you tried to stir up some chaos with unlikely underdogs).
By the end of July, the King and Queen will be announced and we'll know the winners, at last. And following the reveal, I will share the final tally of how everyone voted.
I should also point out I'll probably try to be extra quiet outside of posting over the next few weeks, just so I don't accidentally say too much. If you have questions, still don't hesitate to ask. But know that I may or may not hesitate to answer. In fact, I'd encourage readers to answer each other's questions this time (admittedly what I should probably be doing anyway, but I like being able to help and clear things up). :)
Other than that, today's page will be up shortly, and I hope you enjoy what's to come. Thanks as always for reading. Please have a wonderful day. <3
I'm honestly way too excited for a webcomic prom lol. I'm excited to see who wins!! It'll be an extra surprise bc I totally forgot who was running for prom king and queen!
Fewer than twenty years of Rain, I'm afraid. 2020-2021 seems likely.
However! I plan on writing/comicking for rest of my life, so I'm hoping there'll be many more than twenty years of updates from me yet to come. So if you're enjoying Rain and need more queer and trans positive comics in your life, stick around when it's over for much more from me in the future. ^_^
@Jocelyn YAY! I mean, I'm sad Rain will ever end, but I'm also excited to get to see more of your other comics come to life. (I'm personally anticipating Carmen's story.)
The Rain Deviant Art gallery has folders going through chapter 44, so the comic will probably last at least that long. Chapter 38 currently has the initial "G," which I'm guessing will stand for "Graduation."
She can't be. :) The readers got to vote, with the promise that the outcome would be made canon, and Rain was only on the list for "Queen" (as she should be).
So she might end up elected, but not as the "King".
I could easily see Rain getting Prom Queen but being announced by that guy as Ryan, thus outing her legal firstname to everyone there... and Rain has by now had enough practice to be like one of those Boston Dynamics robots that cannot be knocked down, tripped up or kicked over anymore and just simply yell across the room at the announcer "I go by RAIN because Ryan sounds like a dorky boys name" as she and Gavin get up from their seats to walk up to the stage together to be crowned (and Gavin better not forget to offer her his arm to escort her to the stage like a proper gentleman).
I know its not going to happen but I really want Ky or Ruby to win! They both just look real dapper and cute and it would be cool to see the school finally showing some support for their fluid gender expressions. I don’t believe the whole school is transphobic. There are probably some who are reluctant to say so out loud, but who have respect for what Rudy and Ky did.
Honestly, I do kind of feel a little bad for that one guy nobody remembers the name to. Sure he was kind of being a shit friend, but I don't think he was intentionally being a jerk.
Rob. Sure, he may have been unapologetically dumping on queer people since his introduction, but I agree it's likely more out of ignorance than malice. Drew didn't exactly sever ties with him though, merely putting his foot down to Rob's homophobia; if they're to remain friends, Rob needs to seriously re-evaluate his behavior.
Randy for king! I voted for him, and here's to hoping.
I also voted for colette because not much was known about him at the time of voting :/ here's to hoping he doesn't win that
Was just doing a quick reread to refresh my memory on something, and ended up reading forward from there. Felt the need to pause and say that I really love panel 3 on this page. The expressions on Debbie's Devon's and Randy's faces in response to Holly being Holly are priceless. :-)
Aiden is looking somewhat unhappy. He is probably in for some growth, if not this chapter, then in the next one.
We are late in the story, but this is definitely not the last chapter of comic. :)

Also I just found this comic recently (so I didn’t get a vote :P) but I really like it, keep up the good work Jocelyn!
