Debbie and Holly finally notice Ruby and Ky, and they have questions. The responses given are short and truthful, if perhaps amusingly uncooperative and unlikely for the two girls to understand.
Meanwhile, there seems to be another onlooker, as someone else sees Ruby and Ky for the first time post-swap...
OK, this was the exact reaction I was expecting from Holly, but not Debbie. I thought she'd explode, saying something like "What's going on here?! First Rain's a guy dressed like a girl and now this! What's with you people?!" And everyone would hear her and things would start to get ugly. Still potential for that, though.
On another note, oh boy, I am now dying to see Colette's reaction to this. I wonder if he'll think he can find someone to swap outfits with, too.
Plot twist! Colette changes his mind and Drew swaps to a) help him, b) as a sorta-appology to Ky for responding poorly, and c) to understand dysphoria better by causing it in himself.
Joking aside, that went better than I expected. I'm really looking forward to seeing Colette's reaction, although I doubt he'll try any changes himself at prom.
I appreciate Debbie isn't actually sure Ruby wasn't in a dress earlier. Also, I'm kinda surprised Holly wasn't the one to notice, given her fixation on dresses.
I don't think Colette will want to switch even after seeing how Ky and Rudy are being received. Gerald Broom was yelling at them a few pages back. Colette may or may not have seen that, but he still probably knows that given how many people are at prom, there is a reasonable chance that word of anything he does here will eventually reach his parents. Remember, Colette's parents are wildly transphobic, so it could be quite dangerous for them to find out while he is still living with them.
That danger is not as present for Rudy or Ky. Rudy's parents are far from good, but they already know he likes cross-dressing. And Heather has been moderately supportive of Ky since around chapter 13.

That "Sure" though, A+ timing ♥
This is so awkward I love it XD

I think 4C51 means Ky took the question to mean, "Which of the following three are you: a boy, a girl, or a boy and a girl?"
It's also conceivable Ky took the question to mean, "Are you within the set that comprises boy and girl?"
Personally, I think Ky understood the question just fine and simply gave an answer intended to annoy as much as the question annoyed them.
"sure."
that is exactly the response I intend to give if someone asks me that XD
"Yes."
