Aidyn returns from the soda bar, at last, while Rudy and Colette continue their conversation about trading outfits right in front of him! Of course, they say it all without specifying anything, so Aidyn is still amusingly in the dark. XD
In case you've forgotten about the entirety of Chapter 6, yes, Rudy's classmates have seen him crossdress before. Even ones not normally attached to his usual circle of friends. He didn't really see too much adversity then either. But in this case, it's the setting that might complicate things. That was Halloween. That was a house party. There were no teachers or even adults (there was Chase, but he's obviously not the responsible type).
This is prom, though. This is an event hosted by the school. There are many teachers and adults. So how can or will this go, I wonder?
So it occurred to me that Rudy might have been asking Colette about this (even though Colette already said he didn’t want to trade outfits) because Colette might worry about being “outed by association” or being made light of, like Rain’s reaction to Rudy’s Halloween costume, or Ana’s reaction to Rain coming out to her. Cross dressing in the proximity of trans folks can be a touchy thing
I want to see Rudy cross dressing and get into a big argument but right when it starts to get physical Maria comes in and just absolutely wrecks everyone that's messing with her brother.
Rudy/Ruby switching with Ky is a good solution. Ky's prom dress ia cute and all. But somehow it just doesn't say Ruby.
