Regardless of how served Father Quenton may be getting in the comic's present day, this doesn't change the fact that Maria still had to run away a few days earlier for her safety. I guess the big question here is if Brother Arthur does manage to remove the current principal, would Maria come back to St. Hallvard? Or home?
This is the last flashback scene of the chapter. There's just one more week of pages left, so everything from here on will take place in the comic's present day, and everything will move very fast. Be ready for it. ;P
Also, I've already discussed this, but once the chapter ends next Friday (June 22nd), I'll be taking a lengthy working hiatus. Partly to finally start putting together Volume 5. Partly to get ahead a little with a page buffer again. And partly to finally get Moonlight Wanderers off the ground. The plan would be to return to posting Rain sometime in September (but you can probably expect some surprises before then). So I'm hoping for a fruitful next few months. Wish me luck. ^_^
Short of Maria’s expulsion getting rescinded, she can’t come back to this school nor could she enroll in the regular public high school either. If she applied to, was accepted at, and declared her intention to enroll at a university, her acceptance to said university will be rescinded. Her only options will be to enroll for the local alternative public high school through the end of the school year or get a GED, and then go to a community college after the summer.
Even if Maria's expulsion has the force that Quenton acted as it has, it takes the school board to confirm it before it's official. How often does the school board meet? While they could certainly have an emergency meeting if the situation seemed critical, with Maria not returning to the school, I'd guess that won't happen until their next regular meeting - which could be a month away, depending on timing. At least, all the school boards whose schedules I've heard had monthly meetings. Of course, that says little about how things work in Rain's world. But considering that it's pretty much always everybody's sideline job, I doubt that they're more frequent than biweekly.
Ok, I know this doesn’t have to do with this one, but I have a suggestion for if you don’t already have a plan for this. I think Colette’s name when he chooses one should be Nicholas and here’s why: Colette is the shortened version of Nicolette, in which the masculine version is Nicholas, which can be shortened to Nick. If you do that in reverse, it’s how I chose my name. It’s a bit different than just masculinizing/feminizing a name, so it’s a little more discrete. Just my thoughts. On a related note, I absolutely love this comic! Rain is sort of a role model for me, since I’m not out yet and would love to be able to do what she does. Thank you Jocelyn for making this wonderful work of art for us all to enjoy!
It's a flashback. The lack of color is meant to denote something that isn't taking place at the immediate present in the story.
At least it’ll come back around my birthday, so Rain present for me!
I am heartbroken. q.q
Me: ARCHIVE BINGE
Also, Colette himself said he wants something that isn't so close to his current name.
