After I did this page, I threw in Battletoads (the inspiration for “Fighter Frogs”, the game they’re playing) again for the first time in probably like fifteen years. I’m actually a rare sort that can proudly say I’ve beaten it once (and only once), but the game was hard enough that I figured I probably wouldn’t do so well anymore if I tried again today. As it turns out, I still remember the game better than I thought and wasn’t actually that out of practice. Personally, I did better than I expected, until I basically got stuck on Level 10. What a beast, that one is.

So, in a way, I feel like I’ve invalidated my own joke for this page. In all fairness, I HAVE had this problem with other games… just not this one. So, it is plausible. Different people play differently too, after all.

Kind of a quickie today. Hope no one minds too much.

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

Good job able to get to Level 10, I can only really get up to level 7 or so any more, and that's only thanks to the warp in the Turbo Tunnel otherwise I'd never get past level 4. (Hate the ice level.)

Nice comic, not much plot but it's still great to see a couple of old friends hanging out together.

I never thought Level 4 was too awful personally. Not easy per se, but compared to some of the later ones, I never though it was so bad. The stretch of levels 9, 10 and 11 were what always devastated me.

Yeah, there's really only a couple jumps in 4 that trip me up, and the slidey spikey things that raise the barriers right next to the end. The barrier things like to squish me just before the end.
I still prefer to skip it and jump directly to surf city after the turbo tunnel. :P

And yes, level 11. That one's just pure evil.

Totally with you there, on all counts... I can beat Arctic Caverns, but I just... hate it. It's not particularly fun... it's slow and clunky, especially when bordered on both sides by vehicle stages.

What, is Battletoads a T-girl thing now? @_@

I have all the trouble with stupid Level 9, Terra Tubes... Those punchfish, I tell you!

hehehe, If its truly based on Battletoads, then it is impossible to win with 2 players :D!

Not that I knew this when I played it.^^;;;

This reminds me of Trojan. When I played it when it was new, I was pretty good at it.

Now, I can't even get past level 1. D:

I had a similar experience on the TMNT Cowabunga Collection recently. I used to be able to breeze through TMNT2 in the old days; now I'm dying multiple times in each of the early levels. My gamer's ego has suffered greatly from this loss of skill.
