Welcome back, Rain Beaus. My working hiatus turned out to be a bit of a bust, thanks to me being very sick for like 90% of the last week. (And of course, I would feel just dandy today!) Grumbling aside, I promised to return on April 2nd, so I'm here on April 2nd. I'm not as far ahead as I'd like, but I'm also not going to push this hiatus out an extra week over it (maybe I'll see if I can just break up a few two-pagers so I don't fall behind too much). Just maybe don't be surprised when I inevitably need another hiatus after this chapter.

But let's not worry about that for the moment! "So what say we focus on the now stuff?"

To nobody's surprise, this is going to be a Maria chapter (I think there would be riots if it weren't). Yes, there will be subplots that still need to be worked on in the meantime, but expect most of it to basically revolve around her. And while I probably don't need to say this, expect some drama. What I might need to remind some of you though, is that this is still Rain, so there will still be some warm/light/funny moments too. But mostly, I hope it'll be a chapter you all enjoy. ^_^

So sit back, relax, and read on...

...or whip out the ol' conspiracy theory board, and let me know where you think this is all going. XD

Mr Strongwell: Where is she!
Fara: Rather than yelling at me don't you think you should be waiting at home for your daughter?
Mr Strongwell: Home. That's the last place she'd go.
Fara: <Wry smile>

Jocelyn, I've come to acknowledge how seriously talented of a storyteller you are. You've done with Rain what George R R Martin has been doing with Game of thrones for the past 20+ years, creating amazing characters we care about, keeping your readers guessing, blindsiding us with the unexpected, and displaying realisitc emotional depth that makes it nearly impossible to turn away.

We can only guess and speculate what you do with Maria in this chapter. Will her parents capture her? Will Maria find sanctuary where no one can hurt her? Will Mr and Mrs Strongwell see the light? Will Rudy be safe? Will Father Quntion start a witch hunt to purge the school of "sinful" and "impure"?

We the fans can only guess what happens next. But all I want is Maria to be safe, and fall into the loving arms of Chanel in a place where no one can harm her. I think that's what every single one of us wants, and I hope you, the writer, wants that too, otherwise we all maybe heading down a dark path there's no way back from.

I'm quite doubtful Rain will ever go down the path of terrible grimdark. We came back after Rain lost her hair (and ended up looking cuter, by popular opinion), and Chase apparently being a pedophile, and Aiken's character doing a very good take on the hardships of acceptance.

And here we are, almost dying of content starvation because of one week of epic cliffhanger.

This is nothing like GoT. IMO GoT has waaay too much sex and murder. :D

I meant it on the terms of storytelling, characters, emotional depth, and intensity.

Hey Jocelyn! I'm a longtime follower of the comic (and longtime lurker) who's just popping in to say that you, among countless others, inspired me to come out to my parents this weekend. I can honestly say that reading Rain has not only given me hopes and dreams for my high school future, but the courage to actively pursue those dreams. So thank you so much, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

I don't think I've needed an update this badly on any story ever, and of course it's a title page. Do Patreons have a sneak peek of the next page or anything?

Hi Jocelyn, just a quick comment from a lurker thanking you for your amazing work on this series over the years, it's not only been entertaining but has helped myself and I'm sure countless others to embrace who they are.

Eagerly awaiting the nest installment! :)

I know that this chapter is going to be dramatic, but let me just say that I love her earrings. Your attention to detail is amazing!

I can’t say i speak for everyone. But i’d like to think that we’d all agree that if you need to take another week to plan and catch up that you shouldn’t worry about disappointing us. From what i’ve seen from the other readers i think it’s safe to say we’re a pretty understanding bunch :)
