Our principal, Father Quenton makes a rare appearance, walking through the halls with Brother Arthur, and talking about something relatively inconsequential to the story overall. But this scene isn't without purpose. It basically leads into the rest of the chapter (two more weeks). Do expect a bit of a tonal shift for what comes next.
As for what comes next, please feel free to offer your thoughts and expectations.
The next page will be up in a little bit. In the meantime, I want to offer a content warning as things are about to get heavy for the rest of the chapter. But I feel like the next two pages in particular could be triggering for some.
Maybe I'm overworrying in this case (I admit I have a hard time telling with this stuff), but I want it on the record just in case.
It's not even then. Being Catholic now, I can tell you that the Church acknowledges we're all sinners and still teaches virtue is far more important than sin. I can also tell you, however, that there's always assholes that don't care.
If Rain was ever made into an anime, I would picture Liam Neeson and Shannon McCormick voicing Father Quenton and Brother Arthur respectfully. As for Rain herself, I want a voice actor who can pull off a girl voice as well as a boy voice. So my choice would probably be Tara Strong. As for Gavin, No doubt Johnny Yong Bosch.
Judging by what we know about Father Quenton and what he says here it is easy to assume he's a very Old School Catholic (fire and brimstone vs love and forgiveness)

Puritans, actual self-proclaimed ones, aren't so much a thing nowadays. They definitely don't have many schools, anyhow, and expecting every practicioner of anything, including religion, to be doing it "right" is asking for disappointment.
I think it has been stated as Catholic, though I might be wrong. Quenton IS wearing Catholic priest getup, though, so it's a safe bet either way.
I know it's been a while offline, but only a week or two ago comics time (I think), there were grade reports just before the fateful comic convention (that ended in The Haircut) and Rain just barely got a C or some other fairly low grade in Math. So I'm betting those progress reports are Father Quinton's attempt to look for an excuse to hurt Rain and her friends (or even just pull them out of class into detention in order to scrutinize them further).
I don't think he has any intention to hurt anyone, He's just following the belief he follows. And even religious extremists usually are trying to "help people" from there point of view.
Father Quenton will note that he has had a lot of flack from Mr. Strongwell. He will instruct Brother Arthur to solve things, preferably by expelling Rudy and Maria.
And he seems to misunderstand Sloth. It's not taking a while to do things that take a while to do, it's spending time not doing things when one should or working far slower than you actually can (a slow worker working as fast as they can but taking a long time isn't slothful, but a fast worker working slow would be even if they take less time than the slower worker).
Also even then Virtues were seen as more important then sins.

I could see it. The school's primary denomination was never specified was it?

Just kidding, I don't really think they're related . . . though it would explain what they're both trying to compensate for :P
Yeah, and so are Pride and Wrath, you fake-Catholic jackass.
