I didn't stand when I read this page of the comic!
(If you don't get the joke, I am replying to Jocelyn's question of "Where do you stand?" which could be interpreted as "Where are you standing right now?" instead of the real meaning of "What are your thoughts on this page?")
I'm standing next to my space heater. (Sorry couldn't resist) Seriously though, Rain has every right to be worried. Who knows what texts may have been on that phone! And if Maria's dad decides to go "Scorch the Earth to Purge the Gay" everyone in that group is in big trouble.
First time seeing a comic uploaded live instead of on catchup! Great job Jocelyn :)
As for the group's risk of being outed, I agree with Maria that Mr and Mrs Strongwell probably don't care about anyone other than their own kids and therefore wouldn't out anyone else. Besides, what evidence do they have? I don't think they talked about their identities via text other than Maria calling Emily "pan girl", but the Strongwells would probably just interpret it as an in-joke since they likely don't know anything about identities other than gay and lesbian.
can't wait for the next update!!
as for where i stand, im an anxious person in general, so this makes me feel like.... something's gonna happen with Mr. Strongwell. and it's gonna effect people in the friend circle.
Prediction: He's going to try to out them all. But it won't ultimately work, because his brush will be too broad and he won't get enough specifics right for anyone to believe him for more than a few days in comic (read: a few months real time - or time skip and we only get a week or so of it)
This is why I delete all of my text messages after I read them. It is not like I have anything I need to hide but if someone is playing with my phone, my text messages are noone elses business.
Yeah, but most people who put password locks on their phone choose crap passwords. Which is why iPhone defaults to numeric only passcodes of 4-6 characters. Even within those restrictions, there's better passwords and worse passwords. 1234 is not one of the better ones. Just saying.
Also, even with the best password, timing is also important - if the phone was unlocked when it was confiscated, the password just means he only has that one chance to get data from it, but it could still be hours of mining. It's easy to say 'just lock the phone right before he grabs it', but due to the annoyance of poorly timed auto-locks, most people I know well enough to know this about them have the actual lock delayed at least a minute.
Looking from Maria's dad's point of view, Rain being transgender would be the most extreme of the group per say, so if he's going to go after anyone it would be her
I think Rain has every right to be worried. Hearing just the stories from Maria/Rudy about their parents without actually having met them, makes them sound like horrifying people.
Rain having specifically dated Rudy might also be a special target to him.

...sorry
Anyway I'm still worried because we don't know if Maria has talked about Rain's transition and doesn't remember it

Also is it just me or does Rain's face have a masculine look to it whenever she's shown from the 3-5 o'clock and 7-9 o'clock angles?
It's been pretty consistent since I noticed it but doesn't seem to be happening for any other characters, so it's probably intentional.
