Filler page is filler, but cute MarNel scenes are pretty much always worth it in my opinion. This will be the last bit of filler too. We're at long last going into the final stretch of this chapter.
I feel like Chanel is still mostly shipping Rain with Emily out of an overprotective "if Rain isn't single she won't threaten my relationship" sort of goal, but maybe I'm just assuming the worst of her since I've never really liked her as a character... Hrm.
Unless you'd go as far as not knowing what a couple is, the only slang there is "shipping" and "OTP."
Shipping is basically rooting for two people, as often fictional people as real people, to end up romantically engaged. With fictional characters, shipping is always a wholly emotional affair, where you simply wish for two characters to get together and talk about it on the internet or with your friends, though occasionally efforts are made to persuade the author of some work. For real people it's often still just an emotional thing similarly to with fictional characters, but with real life it's common for "shippers" to try and play matchmaker with the people they want together.
An OTP, short for One True Pairing, is basically the most important "ship" (potential romantic pairing) to a person who engages in a lot of shipping (defined in previous paragraph). So Maria's line about hoping that she and Chanel are still Chanel's OTP is basically a joking jab at Chanel along the lines of "I hope you still find you and me the cutest couple rather than those other people."
Yeah; shipping, otp, never knew what any of that shit was. Not till this page, had I ever seen the terms used. I don't keep up with slang, and text speak. Too complicated...
I just wanted to say that first off, this is the cutest comic ever! I totally love all of the characters! And that I love that someone is writing about the LGBTQ+ community. We are really left out of entertainment and when we are included we aren't properly represented. This comic really speaks to me because I myself am a panromantic, asexual, non binary with a girlfriend. I formerly identified as a girl and was born as a girl so people act weird around me because I have a girlfriend. They treat her differently too and makes me upset because love is love no matter what gender, sexuality, or romantic orientation someone has.
Wow. I only just now realized that that valentines day cover april fools joke was two years ago. I cant believe i have been reading this for so long! Not that that's a bad thing, I am quite happy about how things are going right now, keep the great work comming! ^_^
You know, Maria, I was hoping as well. D:
"I could spend my whole life reading cute MarNel scenes" sounds way better, right?
