I dunno, I think that Allison will freak, and then realize that Ryan probably pushed her away because the internal stress of Rain wanting to share who she really was with someone she really cares about vs. the fear of that same person rejecting her was making everything crazy. I think Allison and Rain will become bffs. I'm still hoping for Emily & Rain to be a couple. They are so cute!
On the other hand, I could be like so way off the mark that I'm being silly.
It was worth it! I hope Alison and Rudy can be friends and not invoke drama... This is a really heartfelt moment. Rudy probably really needed to hear that. Maybe this will help him move on.
I don't know if Rain and Allison will ever meet (back) up, but I'm kind of wondering what will happen if they do and Allison is still holding on for feelings for Ryan/Rain. I don't know Allison's full orientation (I obviously get the feeling that she likes men, but whether or not she like women as well is unknown), or even if Allison is accepting of transgender people.
I know from personal experience that it can be extremely hard to get past unrequited love; it can also be difficult to get past old relationships. Both of those ideas seem to pop up a bit in this chapter. It can seem idealistic when you think that there is definitely a person specifically out there for you; you don't know that there is one for a fact, but often you have to hope and convince yourself that there is. And that is what Allison is doing; convincing herself that there is somebody out there for her.
This is a page late to be pointing out, but does anybody else feel the strange mix of tragedy and anger towards the fact that Gavin has expressed trouble referring to Rain as "Ryan" and "he" while Rudy seemed to have it down as if it didn't demand a change in thought process at all? It's like Rudy doesn't even think of Rain as a girl... A view which, mind, wouldn't necessarily contradict anything we know or have seen about Rudy if we bear in mind that he's not always been verbally honest about how he feels. (Though I always found his "you're the exception" speech to be one of the best speeches I'd ever seen in a webcomic, so the realization that it may well have been a total load is pretty sad.)
Oh, Rudy. I can't decide whether you're a wonderful example of a conflicted character, or if I just don't like you. I'll go with the first one because you're funny and you were cute on this page, but you're on thin ice.
Dunno... I think this is more an example of their differing personalities than anything else. Rudy has always been quick on the uptake, he might sometimes act uninformed or foolish (i.e., "Dude, she's a lesbian"), but he also has been shown to be very good at watching his words (among other things, keeping his affection for Rain completely secret for two months).
Whoops, I hit enter by mistake before I was done >.<
At any rate, if there is anything Rudy loves, it is pranks and drama- I mean, he is showing up as Ruby specifically to annoy Gavin! Now that he suddenly needs to refer to Rain as a "he" Rudy has adapted very quickly, to continue with the charade for as long as possible.
Test the waters by bringing up Trans topics and gauge there reactions, if they are positive than come out to them and proceed from there. If they react negetivly to trans topics find a support group in school that you can trust and look into getting help from your extended family.
I wish that would work, but my mom and stepdad, are more along to the lines of, "transgendered people are the devil's children and have something f*uvkes up in the head"
Then just remember that safety is absolutely paramount. If you can find a couple of really trustworthy and discreet friends in high school (and you need to make sure of this; don't just open up to somebody the instant you guys are friendly) then open up to them, but keep it on the DL with the parents and the school faculty people who may have some confusing and arbitrary legal or "moral" obligation to report anything regarding your trans status to your parents. If your parents let you out to hang out with friends and stuff, then you can dress as you feel inside when you're with them if you have the opportunity, but *do not* decide that you'd rather take the risk with your parents, no matter how awful and freedom-seeking you feel in the moment. You could have a whole lifetime of living as your identified gender if you just wait a few years to become independent from your parents; you don't want to risk throwing that long-term opportunity away by coming out to your parents now and having them try to mentally or physically harm you, whether through personal abuse or by trying to send you to a "curing camp." Just always be cautious.
On the other hand, I could be like so way off the mark that I'm being silly.
Awwwwwwwwww! That's really uplifting. ^.^
