This is kind of a heavy page. We learn a fair bit about Emily's past mistakes, and her past relationships, and her horrible mother. Poor girl's been through a lot. I don't even know where to begin.

But! All that said, it's not entirely bad. Just look at that last panel. Could it be? Are Maria and Emily... bonding? :D

It hardly means they're best friends now, but it could be progress. ^_^

Don't blame yourself, Emily! You may have messed up slightly by going out with him, but Chase is a total scumbag who has messed up the love lives of several women in this comic already!

In all seriousness, however, I'm loving this heavy, emotional stuff. Will we see a little more of Emily's mother in the comic, or is she going to be just a mentioned character? I'm beginning to dislike her a lot, and I'd like to see her reaction when she finds out about her daughter's pregnancy...

She already knows, and told Emily to abort it or live off welfare for the rest of her life.

I don't remember that? What page?

Also having what I believe is 80% of what happened with Chase that got Emily pregnant (from both the comic and the bonus chapter) I'm going to say with a strong degree of certainty that Chase raped Emily, I think he got her drunk and took advantage of her and I hope he suffers some form of consequence

This page. Emily's mom is never seen, but she talks about her interaction with her mom here.

Oh boy...

"And then he..."

If that is going where I think it is going, this just got a whole lot more dangerous.

I wonder what Chase did. Based on panel five it couldn't have been anything good. I don't think she's told Rain about this either (I don't remember them having a discussion about Chase's actions).

I think she was going to mention how he got her pregnant. It would make sense if she didn't want Maria to know, seeing where Rain and Ky are the only friends that know (that Emily knows of).

Oh, yeah that might be it. I have a feeling everyone is going to know by the end of this chapter.

Yeah, that eye shading on Panel 5 makes me wonder if Chase's actions were... let's just say removing the "statutory" part of "statutory rape".

Chase is the adult, & by quite some margin of difference. It is his responsibility to not get into relationships or sexually interfere with teenagers, especially not if they're underage (I'm not sure what the Age of Consent is where the comic is set). The latter is automatically rape; the former is still pretty suspect. That's not Emily making mistakes, that's a kid being taken advantage of.

Wow, in the beginning I disliked Emily because she was like so many of the "popular" girls in school. Now she's becoming one of my favourite characters! ^_^

Now hug and be friennnnndsssssss~

Chase is still someone that I would feel no remorse doing a number of things to because he deserves it for taking advantage of Emily.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why everyone hates Chase? Has he actually done anything wrong?
AmbiguousMouse 5th Feb 2016, 6:06 AM edit delete reply
Had sex with a high school girl without adequate protection. Introduced alcohol to a party where he was the only non-minor, although I'll understand if most people don't care much about that because alcohol isn't exactly foreign to high schoolers. I wouldn't say he's necessarily done anything truly horrible, but we've gotten indirect indications that he's a ticking time bomb. Would I say I hate him? Not just yet. But I'm *very* worried about what he'll do.

Well Chase has shown a number of behaviors that are inappropriate. In many jurisdictions, he is too old for Emily to give consent for sex. It isn't necessarily wrong to wonder if that relationship was a little predatory.

The other would be introducing alcohol into Emily's Halloween party. It is not unusual for teens to drink at parties. It is very strange for Chase to be not only providing the alcohol but instigating the drinking. Especially when it was obvious Emily didn't intend for alcohol to be consumed at it. In addition, it is hard to see him say ensuring one of Emily's classmates didn't drive drunk.

To be honest, my main reason for disliking him is he's either being kind of a jerk or immature (or both) most of the times we've seen him.

If I may ask, there was post on "Blair carver" where you brought up clearing, what exactly is that?
Jocelyn 5th Feb 2016, 8:31 PM edit delete reply

@CaiteNeko

This might be TMI for some people, but clearing is when electrolysis or laser hair removal is performed... down there, shall we say. For many surgeons, it is required that several sessions of this be done before SRS. The purpose of this is to ensure that there's no hair growing "inside" after a person is post-op. That said, depending on the specific surgeon's technique, more or less (or none at all) might be needed. Mine does not require it, which is a huge relief.

Does anyone else think that with Emily putting her hands behind her back in the bottom row of panels might allow Maria to notice her baby bump?
Some Ed 17th Jun 2017, 3:30 AM edit delete reply
Since Maria already knows about it, not a chance of her discovering Emily's secret this way.
