Aiken's kind of a neutral party here. He's mentioned several times that his family is important to him. That he doesn't want to lose what's left of his family. That they should all stick together. It's a big part of why he's been working so hard to accept Rain. Even now, he doesn't want to burn any bridges by taking a side. Don't get me wrong. Aiken is definitely mad at Kellen, but she too is his sister.

And more than angry, he's heartbroken over this reunion failing and both of his sisters renouncing each other. He tries not to show it, but as Kellen prods, his frustration starts to come out.

I knew it. I knew only Aiken had the card that could really make Kellen think. I think that whole issue of the promise is going to help define the rest of the outcome here. I also think, however, that Aiken is putting himself in a bad place trying to hold things together, just because of the sheer toxicity that Kellen exhibited from the get-go being a sign that maybe it's just not meant to be. And after what happened, I think it would take a lot of effort from a lot of people to try to fix this fracture, and even then, there would just be lingering frustration, anger, and distrust that would put the whole thing to square one again, and, well, ifAiken is trying to take it solely upon himself, I don't think it'll work out well and it'll just stress him out and make things worse.

Hm, I'm reminded what Rain said on Aiken. "He can be nice, but when he gets upset, everyone knows it."

Rain was on board for what he wanted. I think right now he's probably seriously restraining himself from blowing up on Kellen.

Neither did he forget about the suicide risk... It's not like Kellen hasn't been told about it.

Aiken's totally serious, he does like animes! Isn't he hyped by Assault on Colossus?

And finally now here is where I think the plot starts getting forward again or whatever. And it's on my birthday

I wouldn't be surprised if Aiken had an alternate motive to go to the Con beyond liking anime...

Aiken is being a brilliant, accepting person and Kellen is being a bit of a bitch. Aiken is trying his best to calm Kellen enough to tell her off and try to make her accept Rain. Aiken is being awesome.

Hey Jocelyn,

Considering you're the author of an (amazing) webcomic, do you follow many other webcomics yourself? I've caught up with all of my favorites, and was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what I could read next.

Thanks for all of the love you put into this blossoming story.

The day this was posted I was fully focused on WoW so I didn't read this, but... I like anime.

Whatever is going on in Kellen's head, it's so intense that she can't think strait, which to me makes her seem so vulnerable that I feel protective in addition to the frustrated and baffled.

I wonder if, under Aiken's awesome composure, he's feeling somewhat the same thing. (except of course much more intensely!) Is he feeling kinda scared and helpless, watching Kellen hurt herself and those around her and not knowing where it's going or how to help, or is he watching Kellen go through something much like what he did and confident that she'll come around too?
