I struggled a bit with how I wanted to represent Kylie in the dream. Whether male or female, or redirect focus to some other aspect of her character. Initially, I wanted to use the opportunity to canonically refer to the original fantasy version of Kylie (in all her pig-tailed glory). But while they're two versions of the same character, they share pretty much nothing in common. Including appearance. And if I didn't want to spend too long explaining why it was still technically Kylie, then I was just going to confuse people needlessly (and possibly give the wrong idea about her character). In the end, I think moving away from that line of thinking was for the better.

So Ky still presents female in the dream, but does herself have wings. In a way. They're not attached, so presumably, she's not always wearing them. It's one way of keeping her true to her character though, I think.

Not much to say about Heather here. She's just pretty standard Heather. Take her presence here how you will.

Hey Ky, your apron is slipping there.

Yup, having wings = being trans haha.

Your wings are beautiful, Kylie. They're wings, after all!

Seems I really overthought it on Monday. ~

@Mina

Not at all overthought. Wings technically mean a lot of things in the story. And I can certainly appreciate the more complex interpretations myself. ^_^

And even in the dreamworld Heather is outing Ky to strangers *Sigh* (I still ship Heather with Fara even if Heather is a little tactless -_- )

Is the sundries sign on their store a reference to anything?

For a second there I thought Kylie was Torian. If that were the case, though, she wouldn't think Kaminari was cool at all, would she?

Oh, it would have been interesting if you had presented Ky totally differently as it happens frequently in dreams: seeing someone in a dream and knowing it's them while they look nothing like this person

Also, yes, Kylie, you have beautiful wings :p

Awww, poor Ky. Looks like they're getting the short end of the stick, even in dreamscape.

...Does this imply that Rain doesn't see Kylie as "true transperson"? Or is it just Rain perceiving Heather this way? I mean, I've heard of the term Internalized Transphobia, but I never actually got what it meant.

@Erin:

No. It's just meant to mirror an earlier scene back when Heather and Kylie were first introduced into the story. Although Rain wasn't directly there for that specific scene, Heather didn't exactly hide her opinion of Ky's fluidity. So it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume Rain's seen this kind of interaction before. So, I guess it's more a perception of Heather.

Besides, Ky makes a good point (in Rain's dream), so I don't think Rain has any problem with Ky.

As far internalized transphobia, it's true Rain beats herself up for being trans. That said, considering how much she looks up to Jessica and Vincent - and the fact that she's expressed an interest in meeting more trans people on numerous occasions - it's probably safe to say she's not actually transphobic. She just has low self-esteem.

I looked at the earlier scene you linked. It's awesome how much you've improved since ! I really like your drawings.
Thank you very much to help NB and trans* people to have a little more visibility.
