Ah! So we may get to see a little more than just the main crew at the pool party, then? I wonder who else will show up? Thoughts?
We'll be wrapping up the current chapter next week. This will be followed by a [hopefully, rather short] hiatus. I won't name any dates just yet, but I'd ideally like to start posting Chapter 42 in February. That said, there will still be new pages next Monday and Wednesday, and I have some ideas for Rain Delays if I can actually get around to them. ^_^
Rudy, considering you definitely know that Ryan knows Ana, might want to talk to him about officially cluing her in ahead of time. You don't know that she already suspects he's a guy...
This. And also *PLEASE* please Rudy clue Rain in *BEFORE* Ryan is introduced by name... you might not understand how it feels, but she's almost certainly going to get a dysphoria hit if she hears her deadname while already trying to handle a swimsuit for the first time..
Uhm, are the trans kids going to feel comfortable with swimsuits? I mean, it's just friends, but telling someone you're trans or showing them are kinda different things :/
Well, Ana has already had top and bottom surgery so the main concern would be for Rain and Ryan. There are swimsuits specially made for trans people to hide or enhance certain aspects of their body, which is what Rain will probably be getting. But since Ryan isn't out yet I can imagine him wearing swim trunks and a t shirt or something. Whatever they end up wearing, I do hope they're all comfortable.
I hope everything goes well. Things tend to get really messy when friends of friends get invited to a party, especially if they're teenagers. I don't think Ryan will cause any trouble, but who knows who else may end up attending? Hopefully no one ends up breaking things, stealing things, smuggling alcohol into the party, throwing food into the pool, etcetera.
Since the whole point of this party is for all these lgbt+ kids to have fun together and get to all be fully themselves without fear of judgment, I doubt they're gonna invite many more people
Trevor (Gavin's dad) and his boyfriend Frank are responsible mature adults who'd never allow alcohol served to minors at their home, or any troublemakers to cause problems either. All indications are that they would host a perfectly safe and sane event.
If June 22 (graduation day) was a Saturday, that would mean that the year the story occurs in would probably have to be 2002 (less likely) 2013 (most likely) or 2019 (least likely given political context), either way.... July 3rd will fall on a Wednesday, with July 4th on a Thursday. Although it's not too unusual for throwing a barbecue and pool party in the middle of the week, especially since it's the middle of summer too, and a major holiday the next day, most folks would throw the party on July 4th itself, except maybe in the case of a kids' party on the 3rd and the adults throwing their party on the 4th. Now if the year is 2013, we don't have to worry so much about anyone (e.g. Rudy, lol) bringing fireworks to the party and causing shenanigans with them, lol! Since New York state didn't legalize individual purchases/use of small personal fireworks until after 2014.... but if the story is taking place in 2019 well that could raise an issue.
Hmmm.... Did we ever hear how far Gavin's dad's place is? The swimming episode might be the road trip episode... And, as far as a wedding episode, wonder how the relationship between Fara & Vincent is progressing... Vincent has proposed moving in together... http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/1331
Originally, I was aiming for sometime last year, but - maybe needless to say - 2020 happened and threw me off completely. I'm refocusing on trying for this year, but I do not have any concrete date to look out for right now. I'll keep you posted, though.
I've been reading Rain for I think 8 or 9 years now and it will always be my favorite webcomic so I don't want you to take this the wrong way but I feel like the last two chapters have dragged on where as all the earlier cheapers always had something to make me laugh or cry. Also the anticlimactic end with Emily's mother.?
But I really do hope better things are on the way ?.

It's 2013 in the story.
and I wonder how Ky will be feeling and what they'll wear..? as an afab nb/genderfluid person myself I usually go with a sports bra and swim shorts

2020 was such a disaster for everything. That year will be infamous...
But I really do hope better things are on the way ?.
