Anyway, this was just a silly random idea that popped into my head earlier this week. I wasn't sure I'd actually draw it at first, but I've been wanting to post something, and this gave me the opportunity to test where I'm at motivation-wise for making comic pages. The short answer is that while I may still take my time, and it may still be a while before regular posting gets back on track, doing this felt right. I'm still super depressed and deeply troubled by the state of things in the world right now, but it may be a very long time before that actually changes, and this is kinda my job. So maybe I want to slowly start to set things back into motion soon.
I'm not setting any kind of return date here. I just want to let you know I'm doing what I can, I guess. It's all any of us can do, right?
~
Anyway, I hope you liked the comic. It was a lot of fun to draw (making funny faces is always like my favorite thing). If you're wondering why I didn't draw Kaminari actually getting sliced through to reveal the cake, well... I actually considered it. I worried that might be a little disturbing, though, especially if anyone was going into the comic not expecting anything like that. XD
I may still try drawing it at some point, though. It may be kind of a neat art thing to mess around with. ;P

Other than all that: Take care. Stay safe. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. And I love you all. Hopefully I'll have something more to share with you before too long. ^_^
So, basically, in a nutshell: cakewrecks.com is going out of business because there's not enough disk space in the world to hold what they'll need to, and everybody will think the cakes they're complaining about are normal?
To be clear, when I wrote the line, I meant for "Kaminari" to be the magic word. But "baby sis" fits too, for sure. XD
I could actually see Kaminari being the word that perks her interest now, but then like hours later - long after the fact - it finally clicks that he also called her baby sis. And that'll be what leads to her forgiving Aiken for the traumatizing video. XD
I’ve wondered for a while now, do you have any siblings? Because I’ve always sort of known that only children tend to write siblings a little strangely
Big bro, lil sis, etc
Just wondering
Ps you’re epic and it’s amazing that you’ve been making this comic for this whole time so from one trans girl to another, thank you, you gave me what I saw everyone else have with rom com stars, Superman, or those weird college movies, you helped me feel more connected to the main character.
Rain is basically the perfect pov character for me and so many others like me to empathize with and you help me feel, sorta normal for a bit, just, please keep up the beautiful work, stay beautiful, make the world beautiful, thank you.
Actually, much like Rain, I'm the youngest of three with a notably older brother and sister. For what it's worth, they're my Big Bro and Big Sis, and they often call me their Little Sis. I don't know if that's strange or not, but it's what we do, so it doesn't seem that way to me. ^^;
It's possible me and my family are just a strange bunch of people. XD
Lol, we all a little strange in our own way. You don't have a monopoly on that.
You do have an amazing talent for slice-of-life story telling and comic making. I hope you get as much out of creating the Rain series as we all get from reading it.
Thank you. For all the years of hard work. Thank you.
I think that it's also more common for trans people to be called li'l/big bro/sis/sib
When I was closeted, my brother never really called me bro, but when I came out he started calling me sis a lot (and i love the affirmation)
They're sprinkled around here and there throughout the story. I try not to rely on them and generally stay away from the "extra bad ones", but they do pop up from time to time. Also some characters (like Maria or Gavin) curse more than others (like Rain, who's very rarely sworn, or Ana, who's never sworn).
It's possible I overthink the strangest details in my writing. XD
Not over thinking at all, I think. How someone speaks and the words they use is part of what makes up each individual's personality, and that's harder to get across though art and text than something with heard voices. So taking the extra time to consider even simple things like how often (or if at all) a character swears is a key part of the character creation process. :)
One more request for the possible finale or Rain Delay. If you can, could you reach out to other trans characters in webcomics and put them in the background. No reason, I just think that would be a nice little easter egg. Imagine Princess Sarah attending a Toaster on Fire concert. Ridiculous I know but that's part of the reason I love this comic
I don't plan you at all for being depressed. I know how that feels. This whole thing has been horrifying, and a train wreck in the US. The US has been the poster child for doing this wrong, and it's state governments and disturbing number of selfish twats/conspiracy theorists is just exacerbating things. Last I looked, my state had numbers so high that even countries abroad were staring as us in bewildered horror...
Hang in there. I've noticed some companies and at least a few governors taking the initiate lately. Gotta look for the small victories.
Take your time and take care of yourself. You work hard on this comic (and many other things) - you've earned all the breaks you need!
I know from a Discord I hang in that some people do find the cake images disturbing (to the point that you're required to put content warning on them). So I say you made the right call.
Sigh.
Thanks for the new comic <3
Aiken's come a ways ... even if he doesn't understand why some things should NOT be cake! D:
