Where do you stand on the Ky x Drew ship? Is there hope? Or is this a no? There's no right or wrong answers here; I just haven't asked in a while and figured I'd ask.

While I want a KyxDrew ship (Krew?) to set sail I understand a lot needs to happen before it can leave the dock. At the very least I feel Drew needs to figure himself out more before attempting another relationship.

Iunno, the KRew ship kinda looks DrY to me...

Drew has come a long way. It's always the characters who change the most who are best.

I dunno... To me, Drew and Ky seemed like an unlikely pairing to begin with. I can see them having a lifelong friendship though.
arkathenia 20th Mar 2020, 10:33 AM edit delete reply
Drew was an extremely forward with Ky when finally able to track down the mythical being. Drew seems capable of progressing, and did choose to push aside a friend for Ky. Drew might be capable of being a really good partner for Ky; Drew does show an awful lot of affection for Ky upon first sight. This might work yet. <3

Drew has to make it up to Ky in order to
get another chance. Ky has given to many just because.

He is a person that you just want to like but has made to many errors to just forgive.

Also Jocelyn, I have been following your comic for over a year now and I just wanted to say thank you for your work. I even got your books! I show them off and loan the first book out for people to read.

Right now I'm to occupied with the Ky + Maria friend-ship to even think about Drew.
Catlife333 20th Mar 2020, 10:46 AM edit delete reply
I’ve seen Ky’s heart broken too many times to be still rooting for Drew and Ky to be a couple, but I think they make good friends. I don’t doubt that Ky will find someone though. They’re an awesome person, why wouldn’t they find someone?
DoctrDoc 20th Mar 2020, 10:51 AM edit delete reply
Ky will seemingly never have with Drew, what Maria has with Chanel. As such I've never really seen their relationship as a long term thing. I support Drew in all of his growth, but... in order to become a better person sometimes you have to accept that the people you've hurt can't be healed by your presence. Ky deserves better.
Pacce 20th Mar 2020, 11:37 AM edit delete reply
Drew would need to prove himself as a friend before I'd trust them again, but I'm not Ky.
I just hope that Ky can find someone that respects them and that they don't have to be a gender teacher for.

Personally, I think that Drew has lashed out at Ky a bunch, and Ky has been more teacher than partner to Drew. It seems like an unhealthy dynamic.
Zibiah 20th Mar 2020, 3:18 PM edit delete reply
Agreed. I think that Ky has given Drew plenty of chances. Maybe he's changed enough that they can remain friends, but I don't think it would be a good idea for them to continue pursuing a relationship.
CJ 20th Mar 2020, 12:22 PM edit delete reply
imo, Drew has hurt Ky too much in the past, and Ky deserves better. Yes, Drew seems to be improving lately, but Ky deserves a happy relationship without having to put in the emotional labor of educating their partner on their gender over and over.

I just spent the last week binging literally the entire series from start to finish, I just wanna say I loved it! I'm super excited to keep reading

I've been on team Ky x Drew since day 1 and never left it. Like people said, things take time. But I really think they are meant to be. Maybe Ky only gave so many chances because they really believed in Drew and wanted him to improve. And there was reason for that. Because when Drew saw Ky as a guy, all Drew knew was that he was crushing on a guy. So Ky knew that somewhere, Drew had a good heart, and was just afraid to come to terms with himself.

It would appear to depend on Drew. He still has a long way to go to discover and accept his gender (whatever that may turn out to be) and his sexual orientation (no point on the Kinsey scale, other than 1, seems to be even unlikely). If and when he does, it may be that he and Ki are not compatible. However, if Drew makes substantial strides, and they are still compatible, I think things could go well. However, I think any relationship upgrade is some time in the future.

I really want the Ky×Drew ship to happen because I want to believe that someone can grow the amount that Drew would need to for that to happen.
Tambolyn 21st Mar 2020, 2:49 AM edit delete reply
Yeah I want to see them stay friends, but I kinda want to see Ky x Randy tbh! :p or make another queer friend in public school!

Really difficult question here.

Drew has made a lot of mistakes and hurt Ky badly in the progress.
But he has also put a lot of effort into figuring himself (and his feelings) out to become a better person and understand and accept Ky.
He has changed.

I don't think a simple apology from him could magically make things right at this point, though.
Them becoming friends - and close ones at that - would probably be rather easy from here on forward.

A relationship on the other hand... it depends on a lot of things, like how Ky feels about him right now and in the future, if they are able to forgive him at some point, and to what conclusion Drew himself comes and if he would be able to accept and love Ky the way they are.

A lot of 'ifs' here, but... I think it is possible to happen and I personally think that a relationship that had started with hardships to overcome can end up being stronger and more rewarding than one that started on an easy note (though this might just be the romantic in me talking).

... I think, I still ship them, as long as Drew is not hurting Ky again.
Genderless_Void 21st Mar 2020, 4:50 PM edit delete reply
Ehhhhhh I'm not big on the ship, tbh. Even if Drew came around, I never really felt like him and Ky had a lot of chemistry to start with.

I honestly think Ky can do better. It's not their job to teach Drew to be a better person - they deserve someone who's already managed that!

(And yes, Drew has grown since his introduction. It doesn't mean he's there, yet.)
Callisto 22nd Mar 2020, 3:01 AM edit delete reply
I think that... it is good to give a chance for Drew to improve, when possible, but that it is not fair to expect Ky to do that at their own expensive. At this point, in their position I would be keeping Drew at arm's length just for my own mental wellbeing.

I think it's important to notice when someone is phrasing something a certain way to account for the audience they have, when one is not part of that audience.

To me, it feels like Ky is probably not feeling quite as magnanimous towards Drew as they sound here. However, Maria has not been involved in all of that crap, and they don't want to talk about it with her right now.

I can see them being friends. But even to be friends, I feel Drew needs some growth to maintain that. It's possible they'll manage to get to trusted friend at some point, but probably not within the projected run of this comic.

Yeah, I do still see them as a cute couple, and I admit they have good chemistry, I just don't see Drew managing to improve enough for them to make it past that point.

Personally, I know a lot of people will say they don't like the ship. But it is kind of being set up story wise. And you got to remember with Drew, not everyone starts out knowing who they are and never making mistakes. Drew reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger. I used to agree that people can't be another gender unless they have the parts for it and that non-binary is bull crap. Obviously I have changed quite a bit though, thanks to a few friends of mine. But like Drew, I was never being purposely malicious. He's just learned the world differently is all. It's like if somebody moves to a foreign country where a habit they have is very offensive, they can't break it all at once. It takes time, but someone can grow to love a new place they move to, and the place starts to love them back. Honestly, even Ky needs to work on a few things too. Remember that a lot of the commenters are adults who can reflect, but these characters are still kids just going through life, and high school can be a big time of self-discovery.

If Drew and Ky were a couple, then they'd be an "odd couple" (meaning that they are very different from each other, not that they are weird). While odd couples can work, it's rare compared to couples with similar personalities/interests to each other. Personally, I'd rather ship Ky with someone who was more in tune with and proud of their lgbt+ness, rather than mostly in denial like Drew is. I understand that people can come to terms with their sexuality, and maybe I should hope for some character development there, but as Drew is now, I'm not a fan of him. Sorry :/
