Mostly straight-forward page, I'm not sure what else to add here. Except I guess, did this go the way you expected? And what about singling Rain out at the end there?

Meant to post this yesterday, but I got totally sidetracked and forgot. But it seems that as of yesterday, Rain has had short hair for a longer time than she's had long hair.

Now I'm wondering how people imagine Rain when they think of her. Like, assuming you're not actively looking at Rain herself. Like, when you hear Rain's name, do you think of her with short hair now? Or do you still see that half-covered face in your mind's eye?

I'm genuinely curious about this, so if people are interested, I set up a poll on my Twitter account.

I am very curious about what Brother Arthur has to talk with Rain about
Tualha 3rd Feb 2020, 4:39 PM edit delete reply
I wonder if he thinks Rain might be the father of Emily's baby?
Neelix 4th Feb 2020, 10:16 AM edit delete reply
If it had anything to do with her relationship with Emily, I expect he would have asked Emily to stay as well. I suspect it's more likely that it relates to Rain's use of her deadname to to get Chanel into the prom.

What Rain did to get Chanel in was the most reckless of the group. Arthur knows that, but he doesn't know how many of the other students know, so he wants to talk to Rain alone.
William Melton 3rd Feb 2020, 12:21 PM edit delete reply
Hopefully, Rain will be alright after this talk.
Guest 3rd Feb 2020, 1:19 PM edit delete reply
I'm gonna take a completely wild shot in the dark here and say Brother Arthur reached out to his brother Will and thought Rain might like to know.
Doomblob187 3rd Feb 2020, 4:01 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, that sounds possible. And would be an interesting side-arc.
Some Ed 4th Feb 2020, 12:26 AM edit delete reply
Also might want to do some further consulting on that note. I mean, if I recall correctly, the prior discussion wasn't too indepth.

Did anyone else hear the "Jaws" theme when he said Except you Rain?

Also, does he have a piece of hair stuck to his chin or is that a cut?
Tualha 3rd Feb 2020, 4:36 PM edit delete reply
It's a cut, it has always been there.
Lemonado Girl 3rd Feb 2020, 5:10 PM edit delete reply
Lemonado Girl
No, that absolutely looks like a cut. I don't think we've seen that before, have we?
Ari 4th Feb 2020, 12:51 AM edit delete reply
I believe that's a scar.
William Melton 4th Feb 2020, 1:42 AM edit delete reply
It looks to be a scar. You can see it in previous comics, like this: http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/1055

I really truly hope Brother Arthur is going to ask Rain some questions about how he can reach out to his brother. We’re in the last quarter(?) of Rain, so it seems reasonable to me that Brother Arthur might be making some strokes that lead to reuniting with his brother. I imagine he’ll also want to apologize for the whole Prom King thing. A question for Jocelyn: Is the story behind Brother Arthur’s scar ever going to be revealed, or is it just not that important to his story?
Sine 3rd Feb 2020, 2:17 PM edit delete reply
Ohhhh why's Rain staying? Such mystery.

Feels like we're getting ready for a wrap up, albeit a drawn out well written one.

Why is Father Quenton gone again?
MavistheRainBeau 3rd Feb 2020, 3:27 PM edit delete reply

He was being bribed to let Todd's aggression go unchecked, so he's been dismissed

For turning a blind eye when Rudy etc was systematically bullied. He's now off chasing butterflies or something.
meatrobot 3rd Feb 2020, 7:48 PM edit delete reply
He was found to be intentionally looking the other way regarding a particular student's violent behavior. (the name escapes me)
TiroFinale 3rd Feb 2020, 8:48 PM edit delete reply
He was found covering for some kid that assaulted all of the girls in school looking for a date, which came to a head with Chanel and was interrupted by Maria who punched him, which is why she was also expelled

There are a couple theories from the students here, although obviously not direct confirmation, but it’s heavily implied he was taking bribes from Todd’s family to overlook several things (including bullying Rudy). He resigned probably so an investigation was started because that would not have ended well for him

Brother Arthur investigated why Quenton wasn't disciplining Todd. We never found out exactly why, but whatever it was, it was enough for Quenton to resign before it leaked out.
Some Ed 4th Feb 2020, 12:34 AM edit delete reply
Apparently, he was caught taking bribes, which was why Todd was able to get away with so much stuff.
Guest 4th Feb 2020, 1:09 AM edit delete reply
He resigned (/was forced out) because of the negligence surrounding Todd's repeated bullying of Rudy and Maria's expulsion for standing up to Todd
William Melton 4th Feb 2020, 1:42 AM edit delete reply
He was taking bribes to cover up bullying, got in trouble when lawsuits were threatened and the bribes were uncovered.

Well I hope it's because he's concerned about her well-being since it doesn't seem like this school has a counselor. If she walks, they're very likely going to be stuck in a dead name situation.

This ending would be ominous if not for the fact that Brother Arthur has been the chillest person since his introduction and I have no doubt that what he wants to discuss will be positive.
Enby Bi-Boi 3rd Feb 2020, 6:02 PM edit delete reply
I think he's probably going to criticize her use of her deadname. Worry over her safety, and caution her. I have no reason to believe he'll do anything.

I hope Rain's grades are still good enough to pass all her classes and graduate and that the reason Brother Arthur wants to speak with her separately has to do with something like getting her diploma to specify Rain instead of Ryan as her name, or some clerical issue like that. I know officially the transcript records must use full legal name, but since a diploma itself is mostly ceremonial document, schools often have some leeway in the actual names printed on them. I know at my own high school (OMG, I'm attending my 40th class reunion this fall, Ima freakin' fossil, lol!) they allowed nicknames and such to be printed on our diplomas if that was the name the student actually used in everyday life, for example the name on the diploma might have gotten printed something like "William 'BillyBob' Robert Hicks" or "William 'BillyBob' Hicks" even ommitting including middlenames if the student really hated theirs. Name spelling in the diplomas had to be approved by the student's parent(s) if the student was still under age 18 at graduation, but 18 or over the student was a legal adult in 1980 and deemed fit to decide for themselves how they wanted their name represented on the ceremonial document diploma. Heck, 18 was the legal drinking age then too. I simply had my high school diploma state my full legal name by default.

And speaking of diplomas.... I still need to go to my college records office and process my legal name and gender change for my college transcript and see if they still offer diploma reprints with new names incorporated on them. I know they used to do this a couple years ago when I first got my court order but never got around to doing that. I still have my old college Bachelor of Science diploma but lost my high school diploma a long long time ago.

You know that's almost close enough to my prediction that I'm tempted to say I called it. :-)

Oh, god. I just accidentally binge-read Rain from the start. I didn't realize it lasted nine years. I got so invested. And now there's a cliffhanger :(

I'm the same xD caught up to this page yesterday and was just like, welp.

I started reading Rain after she had short hair, so that's how I picture her. ^.^
Brother Arthur is probably checking in about the Prom King mix up and whether he can help. From their descriptions, her wouldn't know yet whether it outed her
