We close out this chapter as Jess, Heather, and the Flaherty twins finally catch up with the end of the previous chapter. At last, things are lined up, and everyone is properly aware of all that's happened at prom. And it was nice to be able to give some attention for a few lesser seen characters lately. ^_^

Buuuuut... what now?

Well, good news: this may be the end of the chapter, but I assure you there's no hiatus! You can expect the next page to go up on the next regularly scheduled post day: this Friday, January 24th. So I guess we won't have to wait too much longer to find out where things will go from here.

I've got 2-1 odds that the Friday post is in fact going to be a title page

Sucker bet. That's like going all in when you have a 2/3 off-suit at the beginning of the hand. (Texas Hold-Em)

66.7% chance of being right
And 33.3% chance of being wrong

I like how despite shock erasing Heather's and Aiken's pupils (and presumably Kellen's), Jessica remains totally unphased.

Rain told Kellen and Aiken that she "likes girls" in chapter 23. The possibility of a Rain/Emily pairing was suggested by Kellen herself on the same page, and again at the con a chapter later.

I do sense a resurgence of the questions from #598 after today's news making it's way to family....

Her brother and sister already knew Rain was trans. And if you mean being a lesbian, I'm pretty sure they already could figure.

That look on Heather and Aikens face is priceless.

It seems like a lot of story elements are coming together. I can't wait to see what the next chapter has to offer!

Oh my word Aiken's face is so good! On top of that, Jess' reaction is just fantastic! Glad to see this chapter end on a happy note, can't wait to see what comes next!

I wonder why everybody seems to react like that to the news that Rain kissed Emily. Almost everybody at the prom reacted the same way, and now everybody here (save for Jess). Are they reacting because they assumed that "trans female = likes guys" or for some other reason?

Well if you remember the school is generally very homophobic. All the school staff present (bar Fara) would be surprised just to see two girls kiss, as would presumably most of the students. Fara was surprised that Rain would be willing to come out as LGBT in any way, plus she was worried for Rain's (and Emily's) safety after this. Debbie is particularly shocked because she sees Emily (who she feels abandoned by) kissing Rain (who she feels 'stole' Emily from her). Debbie probably feels like Emily was lying to her, and also wonders if Emily didn't want to be friends with her because she wasn't kissing her.

In this scene, people are probably just surprised that Rain was willing to do that in front of everyone (despite having already kissed Rudy in front of everyone?). I really don't understand why Heather in particular is so shocked about this to be honest. Maybe she didn't know that Rain and Emily were a couple.

As an aside, can anyone work out what those 3 little spikes to the right of Kellen are? They are just poking up above the Chapter 38 End sign.
