Another fairly straight-forward page. Perhaps even expected. But it could be an important one...

Rudy looks like he finally gets some release of his own. Talking about this stuff makes dealing with it just a little bit easier. Still, I want to reach through comic space time and hug the crap out of him.

Maybe some couch cuddling while watching all six Tremors movies.
Maybe.

Oh come on...pick some better movies. The two of you will be laughing so hard you won't get to cuddle!

Eagerly waiting a big text dump on Monday :)

Oh come on. We all know by NOW that Monday will be jumped over to another plot line for the week. Or maybe an update on how Maria is doing... ;)

(Sorry couldn't resist. Although I DO wanna make sure that she's still ok...)

Ohh, you just had to leave us with this over the weekend, didn't you Jocelyn? Looking forward to Monday, and yes Rudy, you go!
Some Ed 11th May 2018, 7:37 PM edit delete reply
It's not Jocelyn's fault. It's probably better this way anyway, as Rudy will certainly at *least* take until Monday to figure out the ordering of things. This way, we have a chance of not missing an update over this.

Rudy, I'd recommend loosely chronological. You do want to keep the tale as coherent as you can feasibly manage, but people in Brother Aurthor's position usually have some ability to straighten things out, so you probably do not need perfection in this regard. Just do your best and go.

Ha!

Eh, I figure it'll be a cut away type transition. "Where do I begin..." then next page revisiting these two will start *cue Forrest Gump impression*: "...and that's all I have to say about that."

Monday will cut back to another plotline, probably Maria, hoping to finally see Blair, because that is a person we haven't seen in a while, and I have a hunch I know why we haven't seen them since a flashback to last year. ;)

Hmmmm, you're not possibly surmising that after a year's absence and given how one year of a certain activity many of us are familiar with usually manifests itself visually, that Blair might have a more doe-eyed look and softer facial features, and maybe sporting a brand new pair of perhaps A-cup sized lactation stations, possibly even spelling Blair as Blaire now, would you? 😉

Why is "Oh you're gay, you're probably trans" considered unacceptable, but "Oh you're pansexual, you're probably trans" is just fine.
Gray Jay 12th May 2018, 7:35 PM edit delete reply
There's definitely been some hints that Blair is something else in LGBT+ on top of being pan (Emily says so here: http://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/789/) I've been theorizing they're ace or aro, simply because Emily knew more about it than I would expect without an ace friend, but it's very possible that the "among other things" refers to Blair being trans.
William 12th May 2018, 9:30 PM edit delete reply
My apologies. The remark was base on the belief that the only thing we knew about Blair was that he was pan. However, as you point out, the suspicion that he is trans can be based on "other things".

I'm holding my breath he's poly.

To be honest, I know that Maria was fearing for her safety, but I don't think Brother Arthur acted quite appropriately. If a child goes missing, first priority is to find them. If a teacher thinks that a child is in danger of abuse at home, they are legally obligated to report it. This isn't really the time that teachers get all relatable buddy-buddy with students, this is the time that teachers take action, not just because they want to but also because laws and school policies force them to.
Fox 12th May 2018, 1:39 AM edit delete reply
Maria is 18, a legal adult, and therefore can leave home any time she likes. As for reporting of abuse, I doubt other than religious bigotry, the school is aware of abuse.
Pyreheart 12th May 2018, 9:32 AM edit delete reply
I think that Brother Arthur's acted to the best extent he can. The problem here is honestly a misuse of authority, and he knows that throwing that authority around isn't going to give him any answers, if anything, it's going to shut down any chance he has of knowing that Maria is safe (or as safe as she can be). That means he finds out what he can, and he does so nicely; if the best he can get is that "she's safe", that's what he's going to get and be happy with.

And honestly, 'laws and school policies' isn't much of an argument considering Maria had every right (as far as I'm aware of laws, anyway) to use reasonable force to protect Chanel from Todd, as Chanel herself had a right to self-defense. The fact the school stepped in and punished her for it, and then let the actual aggressor off scot-free is a breach of multiple things that everyone's covered ad nauseam (protection of children, etc).

That's just my perspective on it though, and I have no actual legal knowledge *shrug*

Brother Arthur is the best. Go Rudy, tell him everything.
Mill 12th May 2018, 6:12 AM edit delete reply
Not sure how much Rudy's word is worth at this stage. It's strange that the school hasn't kept any records of any of that stuff, but anything he says now wouldn't hold up in any legal setting with a halfway decent opposing attorney present.
William 12th May 2018, 1:58 PM edit delete reply
Even if it were simply he says, he says, if the judge or jury finds Rudy's testimony credible and Todd's testimony not credible, then Todd could be convicted. However, there are many people Todd has bullied (e.g. Ayden) and many people who can testify to injuries. It is not an open and shut case but I would not bet on the defence.
